Wouldn't it be sealed (with a rubber lining along the housing) to prevent water from leaking in? I feel like you'd have to pry it open after you've loosen all the screws. But I'm sure someone who knows for sure will answer your question :tongue (2):

thanks for the reply eric :-)

Trying to remove the whole entire fog light housing from the bumper though, instead of taking off the lense. Going to try to shake a stuck bulb out...

NP. I was bored from sitting in a classroom waiting for the professor to come in. Anyways let me know how it goes! The outer cover for my fog light is dirty (stain?) and I'd like to take the fog housing out someday to clean it too.

good luck!

Lemme know if you're able to do it also. I looked at mine (the passenger side) and it looks impossible without removing the bumper because of the intelligent cruise radar seems to be a hinderance.

bumper is off. There is one screw, but after removing that i still cant seem to get the housing out :(.

Maybe there is a tab or something that i'm missing. Hoping someone can chime in. Going to take a second shot at it tonight.

You should push from behind with a blunt object on the fog light bulb so you dont pierce or scratch it? I did the 06+ bumper upgrade just a few weeks ago and I remember the housing really gets wedged in there. It fits so tight that you probably don't even need to screw it into the bumper, lol. If I also remember, the housing may be held in place by two clips on the side, like a wiring harness for lightbulbs, so you may have to press in to release the housing. The fog lights are a really PITA to work with. I still have to re-aim my 6K DDM fogs and find it such a hassle to do it. That's all I can really remember, hope you get it!

Also, do the OEM fogs have plastic or glass lenses? I purchased mine on ebay and they are glass.

They are glass. I've replaced mine a couple of times already.

They do get really stuck in there from all the dirt and crap that gets between the housing assembly and the bumper. I had to "finesse" mine out of there. Have fun!

I removed mine with no problem at all. Loosened a few screws and it came right out when i installed hid's in there. Did this a year ago. If i remember correctly, i think its 2 or 3 screws. My year is a 06. I don't know if the previous years were that much different.

there is a plastic tab on the housing that you press down and the whole fog lamp pops right out

Anyone has a DIY for the 2005 FX35/ there is a DIY for the 2009 and up, but I can't seem to find the one for the 2005? My friend's FX is not coming off either, The bolt behind the fog lamps are off, but it still won't come out, anyone has any ideas?

The bolt on the back of the assembly is not the bolt that holds it on. I just did mine the other day and took off the bumper and all for nothing. There is a bolt on TOP of the housing that is a 10mm. You need to remove that, and then you should be able to remove from tabs. Rock on with it. Let me know if that works.

I'm pretty sure that you have already removed the plastic skid plate under the bumper, eh?
If this works, you'll understand how stupid I felt. I tried everything in the book to get the assembly out to replace since a rock smashed it.
I put some nice Hyper-yellow bulbs in as well. I like the yellow fogs as opposed to the reg halogen if you aren't upgrading to HID.

The one you removed from the back of the housing is for adjusting/aiming/level the light. There is a 10 mm bolt on the top of the housing that need to be removed in order to take the fog housing off the bumper. I hear someone here was able to remove the bolt without take the bumper off. I know I can't. Any how here is the DIY to remove the front bumper; ///4590

I was able to get to without removing bumper la_fx35. Just need to remove the plastic "skid plates" and a bolt or 2 on the wheel well. Take a 10mm ratchetting wrench (which is fairly short) to the bolt and remove. Then I pulled the "clips" while pushing on the assembly with my thumb of the same hand.

Of course it helped to be wearing some nitrile gloves. And of course I removed the wiring harness first, too. :nerd (2):

I did it twice. Once with taking off the grill, bumper, skid plates, and 2 screws of wheel well and the other with just removing the skid plates. The latter was a little more difficult, however, doable.

I wish I took pics and wrote up a DIY. However, after 6 hours of troubleshooting that was not on my mind.

Thanks! This is very very very helpful good thing I got this information before I tried to rip out the fog lamps assembly, he he he he, thanks a lot guys.

from what I remember, the 03-05 first design has just one 10mm bolt head from the top, straight down like shown in post #13, but the 06-08 second design is different. it instead uses I believe 2 10mm bolt head from behind & then still needs to be "popped" out because it kinda snaps into place even before the bolts are installed.

I know this is a old post, but found it searching how to do this today. I would post pic. but cant due to less than 10 post.

I have a 07. It has one 8MM bolt on the back of the light and also a plastic clip/locking mechanism along the bottom of the fog light holder(it's short and close to the lens). That is all that holds it in. I used a very small flathead screw driver and came from the outside edge of the car (even though I stuck my hand through the center lower grill opening, wasn't easy and my hand is sore but it worked without taking anything else apart) and pried it down.

Had to replace my fog lamp housing assy. today due lens breakage. The dealer charged me $170.00 for a factory replacement. I've seen them on the internet for about $80.00. I would have taken pictures, but it takes too long to post them, So just using words...
I removed the plastic skid plate (same one you remove to change oil) after I was done,I don't think this needed removed after all
remove the front wheel
remove the foward inner wheel well. (3 bolts on bottom, 2 phillips screws along the wheel lip, & 3 of those plastic push pins that you pry up the center section. 2 are facing the engine compartment, 1 is facing up in center of wheel well, be careful not to damage the 2 other plastic tabs that slide over some tabs along the wheel well lip)

now you can get to the 1 screw on the back of the fog lamp housing, you will need a 1/4" drive ratchet, a stubby screw driver is too long due to the windshield washer reservoir.

As mentioned above, after removing the screw, at the bottom of the fog lamp housing bucket is a tab that you need to pry down while pushing the housing assy. fwd.

That’s it. Now just re-assemble.
