I think it's for putting under the tire to keep the FX from rolling. Only thing that makes sense at least.
 
Chock! That's the word I was looking for. I was thinking chuck, but a tire chuck is something way different. :tongue (2):

I was thinking, damn how complicated is it to remove the spare on our cars that it requires a write up? haha

Some good info here. I may just take out the spare until going on a road trip to better my MPG.
 
Thinking about taking my spare out also and putting in a husky air pump. I know theres this green slim stuff that works really well with bike tires but it can ruin our TPMS is there one that wont ruin tpms or some kind of kit you guys recommen.Also is there an adapter where i can use a normal power plug and connect to some adapter that will go into the cars 12v outlets

It's called an inverter, and you'll want to size it based on it's intended use. (They're rated in watts).

A hundred pounds on a 2000 lb. car is 5% (If I remember how to divide) and 100 lbs. on a 4000 lb. car (Like our FX's) is 2.5% so the ricer theory would apply more to the typical 2000 lb. ricer regarding 0-60 times, na?
 
50 lbs is the weight of gasoline that would occupy 1/3 of the FX tank, meaning the weight of the gasoline when you have full tank is about 3 times the spare tire. So even if removing 50 lbs will improve my MPG, I would then run on 2/3 tank or below rather than take the risk of driving without spare tire.

Spare tire is not only a convenience item, it is an emergency item too, It is never good idea when trying to safe money by compromising safety.

I have actually more weight in my car for emergency, and I believe they are worth every drop of gas:

1) Safety reflector triangle
2) Reflector jacket (aka jelly jacket)
3) Flash light
4) Basic first aid kit, I have added to it calling cards and cigarette lighter phone charger
6) 5 liter powder fire extinguisher
7) set of jumper cables and a set of spare fuses

All nicely and neatly tucked around the spare tire under the board.

If only it was this easy to remove the 50lbs spare tire that's around my waist. :disapointed:
 
I cant even use my cargo area - sacrificed spare space for capacitor and amps years ago ...... at least I will have good tunes as I sit on the road with a flat waiting on tow truck :tongue:
