Remote start using factory key fob...NEW kit...

quoted me 220$ bucks to install this thing. That seems pretty high to me.

I had mine installed last month along with a crimestopper rf kit (2 way pager with 3,000ft range) for $190 up here in Massachusetts. Sounds like the hardest part was wiring in the lock/unlock feature and getting to the ignition wire

Thanks for the info GFortFX.. That gives me something to go on. I was wondering if I would need the Crimestopper Kit. I didn't get that. It seems like if I am going to get this Fortin installed though, I better make up my mind on getting the Crimestopper Kit. I am not to keen with adding the antenna to the windshield though. Seems like it would be unsightly.

Does anyone know what the "range" is from the OEM keyfob on the Fortin, without the Crimestopper Kit added? Usually, when I need to remote start, I am less than about 50 feet from my FX. Which is well within the normal lock/unlock range of the OEM FOB. Ideally though, I just want to not have to go out in my driveway in the morning just to warm up the car. :)

I say that, but one day the extended range from the Crimestopper Kit. would probably come in handy. Decisions, Decisions.

You're welcome. I considered the same thing, didn't buy it initially and then changed my mind a few days later.. Figured I'd rather do it all at once and get it over with. It's great for starting my car from my office or from inside a restaurant, etc.. I also typically just use my key FOB in the mornings to start my car in my driveway. Best guess is my range is around 60 feet or so. Read about a neat trick where sticking the fob to the underside of your chin will help amplify the range - actually works! Something about the water in your head acting as a conductor to boost the signal.

So the antenna is roughly 5 or 6 inches long. I mounted it horizontally on the windshield, drivers side dead center next to the rear-view mirror.. Honestly because of the way the headliner curves in the front, I can barely see it. If it were mounted on the passenger side of the mirror, you'd forget it was even there. It cant be seen from the outside of the car FYI in case that was a concern. The smoked area on the windshield hides it completely from view.

Awesome information. That's what I needed to know. I think I going to pass on the Crimestopper kit for now. Infiniti forum as always rocks. I will post an update when I get this all worked out.

Hi all, I bought one of these Fortin Starter Kits from Ebay, it's on it's way. I started looking around for a place in Nashville to have it installed. A local place called Cartronics here in Nashville quoted me 220$ bucks to install this thing. That seems pretty high to me. And that place always seems pretty shady to me. My normal place which is Hifi Buys, does not do car alarm or remote starter installs anymore. It seems like this Fortin kit is somewhat plug-n-play. If anyone out there has any suggestions of someone in Nashville who could install this for me, I would be much obliged.

Thanks in advance. Biggy

I have most of my aftermarket stuff done at Titan Motoring. They're next to The Armory at 65 near Harding. Big green building.

Thanks Eothain.. I know right where that is.. I saw Titan on the net and was going to stop by and talk to them this afternoon. Thanks for the heads up.

So how much did you spend in total?

Right on. Ask for Philip... He owns the place. Good dude.

So how much did you spend in total?

$120 for the Fortin Evo-All with wiring harness
$124 for the Crimestopper 2 way remote
$190 for install

$434 total. Way more than I originally intended but it works great!

Great info! Did you get the flash link for this thing to work? Im tempted to install one.

Wow seems like most of you are getting charged close to $200 on install. I only spent $100

That's not bad, but I think the viper remote start is close to that price range. I'm still thinking about getting it for my FX since I had it for the old one and I liked how I could turn the car on from anywhere.

So thanks again to Eothain, I went down to Titan and spoke with Phillip (the owner). Place was a million more times professional than the Cartronics I went in. Phillip quoted me 2 hours labor at 95$ and hour for the install. So about $190 total. Just like GFortFX said his was up in Massachusetts. Even though i was hoping for a lower price quote, I am okay with that since I feel like they would get the job right. I also asked him to put the lighted door sill lights in as well, and they said they would. I am going to get it scheduled here in the next few weeks. Thanks again all.

Right on. Let me know if you need any info or anything. I think you and I are the only Nashville folks.

I also have a 2011 Platinum Graphite FX 35 (non AWD though). So we are practically twins. I just need your rims. :)

I bought mine on Ebay from a place that flashed it for me. MyPushCart I think it was..

If anyone is interested, I found the official dealer/installer for Forin devices in Toronto. The shop is run by a well knowledgeable and nice guy, Ron. He took the time to explain everything and provide the available options. The cost of the device and installation is $250CAD. And if I want to add the range extender its an additional $100. I'll probably have it installed within a couple weeks.
He also installs dash cams, I'll be installing the BlackView 650 2ch cam as well, but it'll cost me a liver lol
