Looking to add a remote start to my '12 FX35 LE. Browsing eBay I came across this company that makes a pretty much plug & play system using the factory key fob......

Anyone tried this one yet??

Doing some more research I found the manufacturer of this kit.... Fortin out of Canada

Seems as though Amazon sells the kit cheaper itself but you still need to buy the programmer tool as well

I just purchased my 50 a month ago and when I got all the service records I saw a remote start was installed when the car was first purchased. if I hit lock 3 times it starts using the factory key fob. Not sure if it is the same kit but it works like a champ and I like it quite a bit. the one downside is the range is that of the factory fob, not very far. but I like that I don't need a separate fob.

I know this is going to sound strange, but if you hold the end of the fob to your chin the range increases some.

I agree, the chin trick certainly works well. I use a bent metal coat hanger which helps as well that I keep next to my front door during the winter months.

LOL, I did the chin move yesterday after dinner with my wife and she looked at me like I was smoking crack. It did add about 20' to the range...

Could be a bad idea if you're one of those paranoid people who clicks lock 15 times lol.

I have it also from the previous owner.

Rip. Do you know if there is a way to turn the car off once it is started with the remote?

No It can only be turned off using the push to start button.

Hi all, I bought one of these Fortin Starter Kits from Ebay, it's on it's way. I started looking around for a place in Nashville to have it installed. A local place called Cartronics here in Nashville quoted me 220$ bucks to install this thing. That seems pretty high to me. And that place always seems pretty shady to me. My normal place which is Hifi Buys, does not do car alarm or remote starter installs anymore. It seems like this Fortin kit is somewhat plug-n-play. If anyone out there has any suggestions of someone in Nashville who could install this for me, I would be much obliged.

Thanks in advance. Biggy
