Remember that new grill idea?

I know what you're talking about how it has a roll to it along the opening, just can't find a good picture of it. Might be difficult to get an even roll and taper to the corners of the grille.

Kind of like the Jaguar XKR grille?

theres a pretty cool aluminum mesh available that forms to shape pretty nicely, I did an acura once & it really can conform well without distorting, I had the emblem sunk in & the crossbar sunk in, hard to explain but really looked way better than flat. when it's curved & concaved like that it gets pretty ridgid, so even though it forms easily it doesn't get deformed very easily... plus, being aluminum, if you want to leave it raw it looks nice... hit it with a little wheel cleaner once in a while & it looks good.... I used this mesh on my other car too & just pushing it into the opening & shaping it a bit it looks much nicer than just flat.

I got it on ebay a while ago.. I'll see if I can find the seller if your interested in it, he had several patterns but the tight diamond pattern was especially nice...

If you want to send it to me let me know. They charged me 200 for the paint and labor. If we end up making these, it would hopefully be around the same price as modifying one which is a chore.

How's the fitment on yours? The upper mounting points are a little tight on mine. May need to put in nutserts on the coresupport for a really solid mounting solution.

fitment on the prodrive grill is tight at the top. The bottom tongues/groves have a hard time meeting into place. Does that 200 include the painted finish?

Yes sir 200 with paint and modding. He adds tabs to the recessed area for the mesh to be held in place. You being a Black Obsidian is easy breezy. My lower tabs seemed a little short on a few of them

That' a good looking grill Rookie. Any word on whether or not the shop is willing to produce this? I'd be interested in getting one, but I'll have to figure out how to make it fit the '06 model.

It's been sitting in the garage. With all the projects we have going with the bodyshop right now it would probably take 10 paid orders to get a mold made up for this. Not cheap and a little risky since not all FXers even like changing out of the oem grille.

i'm still down for altering my prodrive grille. I'll let you know come springtime. What's the turn-around time on that job anyway?

Here's some installed pics with mesh. I had the mesh on the grille for a few weeks, kept forgetting to trim it down. Did it over the weekend.

that grille is beautiful no doubt, but I like your fx better with the caskyline grille for some reason... think it fits better with the wheels & the whole thing really, not that that looks bad really....

I think it looks pretty good, but the opening is just too big without anything in there. I think the infiniti badge or something needs to go in the middle of the opening.

And I agree that your FX looks better with caskyline grill.

Nice Rookie. Since your car is so clean looking (i.e. no badges, color matching, etc...), it doesn't give that feel for the need of an emblem.

Is that a Lincoln Blackwood I see int he background? I love that truck.

It works for me. Love the frontal shot.
Plans for production, or just a one off?
Time to photochop it into a standard FX.
