My driver's seat's showing lines and cracks. The leather that came with the 1st gen FX are just not of the highest quality, let's just say. Anybody got their leather replaced? How much did you pay? Just like to get some ideas. :balanced:

would also like to get an idea. There is about a 7 inch crack/tear in my drivers side seat on the side. Would love to get it fixed.

Dealer will replace under warranty but if your out of the warranty period than your pretty much out of luck and would have to look into aftermarket replacement or pay the dealer's price for th oem part.

I don't think the dealer will replace that under warranty cause isn't that considered wear and tear? Dealer's almost never warranty wear and tear things. I could be wrong though....

That's exactly where my crack is, only about 7 inches. I am under extended warranty so I don't think it will be covered

Mine is cracked and torn on the front (facing the firewall) of my drivers side cushion. There is also a creased line on the bottom outside drivers bolster. I looked at other FXs for sale and they have the same problem with the creased line.

I asked my service advisor to check if Infiniti USA would cover the bottom seatcushion as a goodwill repair because it seems like a common problem. His response was that it costs 1700 and he didn't bother checking with them as they will not goodwill something so expensive. I was angry and disappointed that he would not try, at least my BMW service advisor always tries when I asked for a goodwill repair, and we have done nine different cars between my mom and myself with them, and all were covered in part or 100% by BMW NA for the repair/replacement.

It is a very common problem IMO, one which they should have taken care of. I need to grab the info from jumbo about the shop he used as I am keeping the FX for a while and would like to get it repaired.

I had my driver seat repaired for $400. The upholstery shop removed the leather, un-stitched the ripped seat panels (front and side) and replaced them with OEM panels before re-covering the seat. Looks perfect - as if I bought it new. Can't tell any difference at all.

Did you get them redone back to OEM, or custom colors/materials. I would love some alcantra for the middle inserts.

I am getting my entire interior seats redone for about 2,200.

Reasonable price for an upgrade.

if i could get 2200 around here i would probably do it.. you should do RED!

my black seats have the same type of cracks on the front as mentioned by others but oh well.. cant exect the crappy leather to last forever.

My concern with only doing one seat is the mismatch of leather. But $400 for one seat sounds quite reasonable. I might check with some local auto upspolstery shops and see what their prices are. My car is an 04 and at 55K, I highly doubt Infiniti would cover it but I guess it won't hurt to ask next time I go visit the dealer. It just sounds like such a common problem among the first gens.

Doesn't hurt to ask at all. I asked my service advisor who took it upon himself to look into the costs involved before telling me it was a waste of his time to call Infiniti USA. Needless to say after we were done with that service I never used him again when going to service.

You're service advisor may be more receptive. If he/she is and something is done about the seat please post and let us know. When precedents are set sometimes everyone can benefit.

Do you have their business name/address?

Sorry must have missed this.

At the time I had gone to Unleashed Autosports, which is no longer in business. They subbed out to a shop for interiors.

Unleashed removed and delivered the seat to the upholstery ship and they used OEM material to replace only the damaged panels. They unstitched the old panels and stitched in the new, which matched perfectly - even with the seat wear. They also added new seat batting to the ass area before he recovered the seat so it felt pretty much new again. I think I can find out about which place in Houston the shop used. Will post shout back when I get info. It has been maybe two years since then? Seat still looks unblemished.
