First off, if you don't know me, check here:

I have two awesome products that should be back from the CNC Machinist shop in about 4 weeks. Over the past 2 months a good friend of mine (Tony Nazzal) and I have been talking about manufacturing parts. He's been in the performance scene selling Nissan and Infiniti parts since I met him 5 or 6 years ago. We both have pretty intimate knowledge of the VQ/FM platforms and wanted to make something similar to the grounding kits in that it was affordable, effective, and could be made using high quality materials.

And this is what was born

AND

VQ37HR.jpg

Lightweight stock diameter pulleys for the G35 Coupe (03-07), G35 Sedan (03-06 and 07-08), G37 (09-present), G25 (?). This will also fit the 350z and 370Z. FX35 (both engines), M35 (both engines), EX35.

Weight loss is between 4 and 5 lbs depending on the application. Computer engineered and CNC lathed and milled from 6061 T6 Aluminum. These pulleys are very strong and very light.

Rumors
Just to quickly disspell some rumors and myths. Modern crank shafts have been internally balanced for at least 20-25 years (there are a few modern exceptions). Due to the manufacturing process, these pulleys are also balanced by default. Grenading an engine is not really a worry here.

Performance
On to the performance aspect. Reducing rotating mass is not as clean and simple as saying "X HP increase." Will changing out your cast pulley out for one of these Aluminum ones free up power? Yes. Will your engine rev faster and drop faster? Yes. Lightweight crank pulleys are like lightweight flywheels, they don't truly make any more hp, they just reduct parasitic losses allowing you to get closer to that 300ish HP that the manufacturer advertised (to the wheels).

Instead of going on and on, I'll just answer questions as they come about and add them to this post.

FAQ

Are these pulleys underdriven?
No. But I do have another set that are and can include lightweight accessory pulleys too.

When will these be available?
Target date is June 15th. I'll update this if anything changes.

How much?

Retail on these is $200. However, I've got a couple of great options here to save some money.

1) Early adopters - To our early adopters, we're offering the pulleys at $165 (That's $60 lower than the competition).

2) Multi-forum group buy - If I can get 40 deposits for each pulley by Monday next week....hehehe...the price is unheard of! :eek.:

Pass the word on about this!!!

Cool, thanks Stu. I missed that part.

Can the lightweight acc pulleys be purchased separately? If so, how much?

sound like a hell of a pulley.. hopefully we can get a group buy going.. these will fit the FX45 too right?

It's $100 for just the accessories.

Currently, this is just for the 35 engine. I'm happy to look into manufacturing a pulley for the VK engine if there's enough interest. If you'd like to spear head the interest list and set up a group buy, then I can have the plans drawn up and manufacture the pulley.

Can you do install?

Great question. I believe so. I'll have to talk to Tony to make sure he's ok with that.

Any testing done on these, real world.
Remember the CNR pulley fails?

Sry m8, but I would stick with already check pulleys(ex.Stillen).
Sometimes its better to pay more and sleep well.
Thats why I avoid all fancy color and cheap pulleys from Ebay.
But its my opinion.

These are stock size.

As for them being "cheap", sirtrojan...the value comes from us A) Not being greedy. I won't name who, but one of the main manufacturers makes their "quality" pulley and pulls in about 800% profit. B) A lot of time and money has gone into making these very high quality.

To the VK guys, your interest is noted.

I'll get to the other questions later this evening or tomorrow.

Do you have anything to show other than the CAD at this time?

Said they should be back from the machinist in 4 weeks. Maybe there's a prototype already? I assume the final product will be ready in 4 weeks.

Ok, a quick update. Timeline had a small hiccup because the CNC shop has to make a custom tool, but we should still be hitting middle of June.

As for additional photos. Not at this time. We will once this run gets produced. The engineer who designed these for us has been making aluminum pulleys for over 10 years. Issues like heat expansion, slippage and choosing the correct alloy have all been addressed. Essentially, the spoke design, weight, and price are the only real variables here versus something like AEM or Unorthodox Racing.
