Radar Detector installation: valentine1

I think he bought some super expensive system - that didnt help haha cuz he got a ticket anyways......:laugh:
 
If youre getting the V1, best bet would be the country joy or mikes mount piece and then the invisicord (or you can make your own).

Cleanest and most econimical install.
 
i feel like someone would totally smash my window and steal it. i'm trying to come up with some way to have it permanently installed. i don't want to have to take it in/out every time i go somewhere. and it seems crazy to own this piece of equipment and not use it every second you are in the car.

well I for one dont ever take mine out. I dont think the other SoCal guys do either. I live in the "hood" but mine is garaged. But I dont think Ive ever taken it out -
 
i park off street and things have been quiet recently. but i've gotten jacked up before and its NOT fun. and this something that insurance wont cover if stolen cuz its aftermarket and not in the "factory location"
 
All you have to do is unclip the detector and put it in the glove box and you are good to go. I don't think it permanently mounts to anything, and is connected by one cord.
 
V1 has a hidden mount I'm pretty sure where you just have a little cigar sized thing that mounts below the speedo. I'm just saying it's not that hard to mount it in the normal place and remove it if you worry about it getting stolen.
 
Thats gonna be an issue then -
Most (newer) RD's need a clear view front and back & if you dont want to remove it or have it in plain view....the options are pretty limited. You might want to do a system like JB - but I remember it costed a pretty penny and when he posted that he got a ticket (via laser if I remember correctly) I made jokes cuz that system was hella expensive and it didnt warn him at all - I mean your cooked anyways since its laser, but the fact that it didnt even warn him is just bad :err:
 
I ended up getting the k40 undetectable system that set me back quite a pretty peniny but was well worth it 9the ticket i got was in PA and they clocked me, meaning there was nothing I could do)

mounts in the bummper and fornt plate, same for the back ( i have the radar and laser detector and jammer)

technically the most expensive mod i've bought by itself for the FX haha. I should have pics of the setup floating around
