quick question on offset/rubbing

What 22 wheel were you entertaining?

I think that's the right call cuz it'll look hot. If you're gonna go all season with the 22s, you should research the tire well. I think the pirellis are good in all weather. Expensive, but great tire.

I was thinking Ray's rims, Gianelle Spidero in 22x9... It's way too heavy though at 55 lbs shipped weight.. WAY too heavy.. :frown: I don't like lips so the decision is really tight.. So far I liked only Ultraleggeras (8.5" width, too narrow), EXE Konkave's (not sure about the look. Want thinner spokes) and Spideros in 20x10.. 20x10 was a perfect size but it'll hardly fit my calipers.. It might fit with the Spidero's spoke style but if it doesn't, it's a pain in the ass to return them really..

The spideros are gonna look pretty huge not having a lip, & the offset on the 9 is 38. Could really be more aggressive than that. Also will look better with a BBK on those.
I vote the EXEs. Carlos's ride looks exceptional. What about those silver Ordens that someone posted up here on the board?

If you need a PS comp done on anything, LMK. Might help you decide

Thanks Dave. I actually have the Konvex. Mine have a lip. He wants the Konkaves which don't have a lip.

Oh . Konkaves?. . I dont like the style of those wheels at all.
I say go Konvex then, but there's the lip (most of actually like lips )
Ultraleggeras are very cool, but you're gonna regret all that money, & then sittin on 20s.
& which Rays?

I also think there's something wrong with that ship weight on the Gia's. I have the V5 Gianelles & they are made very well. 1 piece cast, but they feel lighter than the 20 stockers. But I'm guessing

Well I might be happy sitting on 20s with the roads we have here.. Believe me it's nothing compared to CA... Anyways, the Ultraleggeras are 25 lbs each (and NOT forged) and that what makes them attractive. If Spideros are anything close to stockers than I'll get them.. Here's how they look on Ray's FX (22s):

I was planning to use my 275/45s on the 20x10 sprideros and if it looked too fat, I'd go with 295/40/20 tires.. If I can make sure somehow the stock calipers will fit in there, I'll go with these.. If not, go 22s with 265/35 tires..

Dave, do you think you can PS these into this one below? I tried but it looks weird..

No prob, but I'll PS them onto the normal model I use, not that Pic.
The Gia's are sweeet.

Just a thought though. The 9s have an offset of 38. That'll probably need a spacer to look right unless you oversize the tire. You may want to entertain the idea of getting the 10.5 & H&Rs that dont sit quite as low. You may need a little trim (who doesnt from time to time), but that would probably look the best.

with 10.5 it's 32mm less inside clearance as well as some trimming on the fenders as you said.. It won't clear brakes without a spacer as you said and honestly I don't want to add a spacer with all those vibration issues I had/have.. Why would it look good with an oversize tire? Didn't get that..

wanted to post this here as well to get a quick answer. Sorry for double post:

Have a question here. These are the two results for same comparison on offsets and clearance:
from wheelsmaster:
Wheels:
Wheel sizes: 20x8 ET 40, 20x10 ET 42
BackSpace:154 mm (6''), 181 mm (7.1'')
27 mm (1.1'') deeper.
Rim Lip
23 mm (0.9'') wider

from 1010tires:
Inner clearance: 27mm LESS
Outer position: EXTEND extra 23mm

What's the problem here? In the first one, it says it's 27mm deeper, in the second one it says 27mm narrower??? This wheel is a lipless one so the offset type will be positive I believe. Does the 1010tires calculator calculates the negative offset and the wheelsmaster calculates the positive? Is that the problem?

Why would it look good with an oversize tire? Didn't get that..

cuz if the setup is not on the aggressive side, some added tire bulge will give the illusion that you're sitting more flush with fender. Wider tire = Bigger Bulge . . . You know ya need the bigger bulge

It's just semantics, both show the same info but word it a little differently on the suspension clearance.

Many wheels for drag racing and stuff don't come in offsets, they come in backspacing. http://www.jegs.com/p/Mickey+Thompson/763735/10002/-1/36676

ok, got it now.. That said, the gianelle spideros in 20x10 probably won't fit my stock brakes.. just got excited for a moment.. :frown: Looks like I'll get the 22s.. Gotta empty the storage.. It's full of tires & wheels... Anyone want a 275/45/20 set or the stock 18" wheel-tire set?

Why wouldn't it clear the stock brakes? Most wheels with big lips have a somewhat cheater face. Bowed in the center and the spokes reach out and back to the barrel for caliper clearance.

I'd be more concerned with rubbing the front strut body. 25mm is almost max inward with tires with bulge, you can go more but the sidewall needs to be a bit less bulged.

How much do you want for your 18's? How much thread life?
