Question to: All GTR wheel owners

I have oem TPMS in the summers and after market ones in the winters. I spend the $30 twice a year to have them changed over. But I also do a manual check of the pressures once a month with my hand gauge.

Exactly right Drew.
Thats why I also have my TPMS in my winter rims and not in my 20" Enkeis.
I don't mind checking pressures in the warm summer months but let the TPMS do it for me in the freezing cold..

The blaring light would bother the heck out of me... I didn't pay all this money cash to have some light stare me in the face all day. :err:

What aftermarket tpms you have? Im guessing you pay 30$ everytime you switch wheels? I dont mind checking my pressure, I just hate the tpms light that appears.

In Ontario at Guelph Infiniti a couple of years ago, they quoted me $45 to pair up the sensors if I got another set, so that would have been $90 a year just to do that.

I don't remember the brand but I purchased them from tire rack. I was quoted $30 by one of the dealers around here. $60 a year is doable for me. :)

u guys got quite a deal on the programming price, i was told it should cost me about an hour, but found thats a fair drive from me that does em for 30$ actually found em through the forum

as for the tpms im just gonna grab a set from the dealer, and look for lugs, hopefully get everything mounted on apr 8
thanks guys

From what I understand you cannot have two sets up TPMS on your car because you can only have one synced with your ECU...I think. I left my TPMS in my OEM 20's which I think I will be using for winter and did not put TPMS in my GTR wheels. This is because tire pressure varies much more during the winter with tempurature change.

1) Yes.

2) I have TPMS in my winter set and set it to a cold PSI of 33. The lowest it goes is 30, typically around 1 PSI drop in 10 degrees F drop as I set it around 40 degrees F.

If you have the means, I would get TPMS in the winter set, I like being warned if my PSI is changing so I know my family is safer that they are riding on an acceptable PSI.

I think you can go with Nitrogen to avoid bigger changes in drops, but free air at the gas station is free (or $1.00) vs $5-$25 the dealers are charging per tire.

i finally got a hold of a local tire guy, but he questioned if the fx has an electric differential, cause the stagger setup may cause a problem? is that true? also i ended up getting toyo proxxes st. cause the hankooks would be a longer wait and with a similar price range.

You might update your "ride" in your profile. Hard to help without some info that would provide.

^ Dat true. The ride quality is a 7 compared to a 9 with the Kooks, sound transmission is 6/9, cornering is 7/9, and the wet traction is a 4/9. In Seattle it rains a lot (yep, it's for real) and I have very little faith in these tires. Under WOT when I hit second gear (In the wet) I can easliy go sideways and although its a bit of rush its not exactly confidence inspiring.

The Kooks really are great in the rain. It's been raining a lot recently and I am always driving for work and I always feel very safe and confident. I don't think they have come loose yet.
