Plasti dip and handles

WORD OF ADVISE......

DO NOT DROP THE Torx BOLT THAT HOLDS THE HANDLE IN PLACE INTO THE DOOR. I did, and it is a serious pain in the @$$ to fish out.

Also, I dont know if its possible to get the door handle off and back on with out the inner door panel having to come off, but I ended up having to remove the inner panel to fish out the bolt I dropped and found that it was a lot easier to get the handle back in when I could hold the latch mechanism from the inside of the door. Especially when your trying everything in your power to not nick/scrape the fresh dip on the handle.

Just my $0.02

Hmm I have never had to remove anything on the door to disconnect the handle, strange. Also, your torx bolt actually disconnects? Mine is attached by a strap so no matter how much I spin it, it is always attached to the door frame.

Yeah the drivers side didn't have a little catch like the passenger side did. You saying that makes me think someone had already messed around in there and broke it off...

Lame.

I bet you are correct. That is too bad. Last person who did maintenance likely busted it out and never took the time to replace it. Frustrating. Lame indeed.

I dipped mine without removing.
When I replaced a door handle a while back I had a ton of trouble reinstalling it.

I sprayed the tops and bottoms really well on the handles. Been on there for 8 months or so with no peeling
did you tape off the handles or just plastidip everywhere and peel the excess?

I did my wheels, handles, grill, and rear emblems all about 6 months ago. All is holding strong EXCEPT for the handles. The first time I did it i just taped off a small rectangle around the entire handle, sprayed everything from every angle possible, and pealed of the excess. Looked great at first, but with out getting the entire handle (inside) covered in dip it only took a few rounds of unknowing passengers getting in and out before the edges started to pull up. Since then I just reapplied over the rear handles since they get very little use, and when they are touched its by me and I know to be delicate and where to pull on, but the fronts I decided to remove the handle completely and do it properly.

Oh yeah, i also got fed up with the faded plastic rear wiper arm assembly, so I took off the whole thing and dipped it too. Looks dramatically better than the that dried out faded white look they all seem to develop.
