All he did is unscrew the antenna and just screw a short straight thread back in the hole with a bit sticking out. Then he slipped a black vacuum cap over the exposed thread. That is his fake short antenna.
This is what the vacuum caps look like. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Vacuum_Caps_Rubber_Vinyl_s/201.htm You can get them at most auto shops.

That works? WHy the freak didn't the factory think of that? Thanks buddy for the info... Why did he make it sound like he got an antenna from that other user then?

It is actually an antenna delete. Here is what he said earlier
Ask RIJC99, he sent it to me. It came with a hex bolt too so that it could preserve the threads where the antenna screws in.

The rubber part that goes over it is not really an antenna, but more of an antenna delete. You still get your radio reception though with no quality loss. The base of the antenna that sits on the car is for XM and the part that I got rid of for the smaller antenna that sticks up is for the regular AM/FM radio.

Since your doing a roof rail delete, it would look better if you did what I did too.

I am going to do this to mine and see how my reception is. It will only cost a couple dollars for the parts..

^^ I sent you a PM.

And yeah it's more of an antenna delete. Whatever you want to call it, you'll still get your radio reception no matter what.

Did my Stubby Antenna today, took 2 minutes:cool:

thats a small stubby you got there:smile (2):

is this only for 2gen?
If you can unscrew your antenna then yes you could.
I could do a simple DIY in the how to section if you want.

hey G, that would be awesome... the 1gen doesnt have that cover like thing over the stub... i like that... wonder if i can implement that on my antenna if i buy it from infiniti if its even for sale?:confused.:

I added that rubber stub and a SS screw, I will post up a DIY on the 2nd Gen DIY section tonight with pics. Then you will see if you can do the same on the 1st Gen, it's really pretty simple.

Never thought this would be that popular lol.

I guess the term, "bigger is better" doesn't always apply to everything haha.

I copied you. The vacuum caps were inexpensive and the install took seconds. Looks so much better on mt G37S. Thanks!!!!
