Pics of the ride with new Powder coated wheels.

I have a few issues with these people at elite. I payed money to have the tires dismounted and mounted-balanced. I hit 60mph the the steering wheel shakes . Didn't do that before. I also payed to have the center caps painted. Looks like they painted the center caps during a hurricane or something. I'm like WTF. They praise and say they are professional people with professional service. Just looks like a bunch of kids running a shop with mommies and daddies money. Im not pleased with these guys. To me the work is ok. If your going to advertise professional work, DO PROFESSIONAL WORK.

ISMTECh how do you clean your wheels. To me these powder coating are not easy at all to clean without scratching them. Only thing that sorta works is waxing them with car wax.

I had the same experience with the balancing. I had my wheels balanced 4x and finally it is good. The first two times was by the people who unmounted/mounted the tires. The next two was at Sam's Club ($16 to balance all 4). He told me that he thinks the painters put too much powder coat in the hole that fits over the hub. The wheels do NOT come off easily so he thinks they might not be sitting completely 100% flush against the plate (or whatever it presses up against). That's why it balances perfectly on the machine but not on the vehicle. When I take my wheels off tonight to put my spacers on I am going to lightly sand/buff inside of the hub hole. Its very possible with mine since they had to paint them twice. The idiots left the wheel weights on the first time. I was slightly irritated when I showed up to pick them up the first time.

you can always have it professionally prep'ed/primed/painted. Jbaker's 18's stockers are painted by turbocad. You can pm either one for more info.

the painted 18s are jordan's winter set up. i think his oem 20s (summer set up) are powdercoated. but he may have his gtr rims on in time which are to be painted by John. Good luck on your search

Hi

Im sorry that you are having some issues. We do not mount/balance the tires as we use a local company to perform this service. We were told they were very good and have never had issues before but a couple of your experiences seem to be different. Please bring the wheels or the car to us and we will make sure to have this taken care of asap. We will be purchasing our own tire machine/balance to make sure this doesnt happen again. I am sorry for any inconvienences. Please also bring us the centercaps so i can take a look at them and correct any issues. We stand behind all our work and will make it right.

As for cleaning the wheels the best way is to first wash with soap and water. Then you can apply a compound and wax to remove any fine scratches. You should treat the powder just as you would treat the paint on your car. Although it is much stronger gloss black still tends to show fine scratches/swirls easier from cleaning. If you bring your wheels by to have them rebalanced i will help you and show you how to clean them. Feel free to call or post up with any questions.

It was very hectic around here for the last few months setting up our new equipment and moving into our new space. I am sorry if this caused any issues. We WILL take care of all of this no matter if it was our fault or our tire company.

I see that you had an issue as well from another powdercoater. When you sanded the rear hubs did the shake go away? We normally coated the entire wheel unless asked otherwise but i will be masking all hubs/hub plates to make sure this is not an issue.

Hey lsmtech,

I sent you an email a few days ago regarding setting up an appointment to have this taken care of for you. Let me know so i can arrange it with the tire shop to rebalance the wheels. I just wanted to let you know we will be purchasing our own tire machine/balancer so we dont have the problem again. Give me a call when your ready to come by so we can get this taken care of asap.

I only lightly sanded the drivers rear inner hub of the wheel. After I installed the wheel spacers my car is 99% shake free. It was probably 90% shake free from the last balancing that was done at Sams Club. Two of the wheels actually had powder chip off when I removed the wheels so I know there was too much material inside the hub hole of the wheel. (I wish I knew what the term is the that hole.) Mine had to be coated twice so that very well could be reason mine were so jacked. One layer of powder might be fine. They had to do mine twice because they forgot to remove the wheel weights prior.

steering wheel still shaking

elite

thanks for following up... still got a little shake in the steering and its intermittent... id like to shoot for this saturday 5/22 after 12noon?
