OT Hyundai Genesis

What i dont like about the coupe is how the window line droops for the rear windows then curves back up...i think a straight line would have been more aggressive. also the body curves around the door handles going to the side mirrors look really deep...i dont like that either.

i think it was a good effort by Hyundai in the end, theyre trying to be a legit competitor with the other Asian manufacturers. one thing i notice, i am not old enough to realize how long people have be saying "its still an acura" or "its still a toyota" until it became a legit brand, but from Honda's lifetime people are STILL saying that "oh, its still a civic" and shit like that. i dont hear those references regarding Nissans, Toyotas, or Lexus'...maybe Acuras from time to time (same company as Honda). what did these company's do differently to get themselves out of the bottom of the bin and have many people respect their cars?

when I had my TL-S (2nd gen.) several times people would mistaken it for a Honda... even after I got my FX, someone asked me... "...what did you do with the Accord?"

reliability, value, design/appeal,

I think Hyundai is definitely stepping up... I mean to put up the money and advertise during the Superbowl is a HUGE step...

Tho, I gotta admit the sedan I posted in page 1 is more impressive than the coupe. The V8 option on the sedan is est. at nearing 400hp if I'm not mistaken!

sorry to revive this thread... but I'm actually a bit excited for Hyundai with this car... On the way home from SC Village last week... I saw one on the freeway with a Michigan plate... no doubt the 2 guys in it were corporate (very Korean looking). In a month or so... you'll start seeing this car on the streets... Again, keep in mind this is Hyundai's first attempt at a luxury model, and has been getting great reviews all over.

like I've been saying for a couple years now... I think South Korea in general is "coming up"... at a lot faster pace than people know it. A lot of our phones, TVs now cars are ALL Korean made or by Korean companies... Hyundai/Kia just passed Honda in the #5 spot

I must say that car looks pretty slick. On a side note, that car costs twice as much in Korea as what it is supposed to go for here in the U.S. So some people are even debating whether to buy it here and then ship it back to Korea, lol.

The car looks like the BMW 3 series coupe but with 4 doors..

Looks real good.

Don't see my self driving one.. But give it time at it will be riced out soon..

Great looking car though..

More pics of the coupe 3.8-litre V6 RWD (very G37)

Comes with brembro brakes?!

here's a copy and paste from someone else (another forum)

First ride: Pre-Production Hyundai Genesis Coupe

On Thursday we had the chance to ride in the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, California. The exterior of the pre-production model appears fairly complete — save for the odd trim piece here or the yet-to-be finalized grille there — and the overall feel was solid and refined.

The interior features color schemes that were also on display in the production versions of the 2009 Genesis Sedan, which we spent the day test driving from Santa Barbara to Buttonwillow and back.

The coupe was clearly unfinished, as evident by the stickers throughout the interior stating that certain panels should not be considered final production items.

The center console was mostly complete in brushed aluminum and included an Infinity Fosgate audio system with XM Radio.

The engine was a version of the Lambda 3.8-liter V6, tweaked to provide more than the 290-horsepower on tap in the Genesis Sedan. It was displayed in an unvarnished manner, since the engine cover that will no doubt show up underhood, has not been finalized yet. Like a tiger cub, the V6 has a throaty growl that defies expectations, without being over the top.

Driving the roadcourse at Buttonwillow displayed great handling characteristics, begging for even harder corners. The suspension development is well on its way as displayed on the elevation changes that require hard braking and then a sharp turn left on the back stretch of the mile-long roadcourse.

Braking displayed great stopping power, and this was not even the high end Brembo kit that will show up on the GT model!

We can’t wait to get into the production model of the Genesis Coupe for a complete review.

I agree that it looks like a BMW from behind. Like most Korean cars, they look like a Japanese car had sex with a European car. :knuddel:

When I was in Korea in 95, I remember seeing cars that look like compact to mid size chevys. except it is made by Deawoo.

Rear quarter window is cool. Dont like all that side contouring. Does look a lil like a Tiburon meets Altima coupe
