That does not happen in my neck of the woods. I know there is a minimum Lift fee. The filter alone is $8 plus there is a Bottle cap thing, right?

im going to do that next time like Will. i goto the same dealer (metro infiniti) . I was going to buy some drain plug washers and they just gave me a few free.

I definitely suggest going to Metro Infiniti in Duarte. Ask for Cheryl , she is actually a member here (metrocheryl):top:

As of next week, I'm switching to Royal Purple. I'm gonna try to do a before and after dyno to see if there is a gain. I heard there is a 6-10hp gain.

From Oil????????????? I call "False".:err:

For my first change, I decided to sitck with OEM.

Quick question/concern about going synthetic. One of the benefits of synth is longer oil change intervals, right? If I decide to go 5K miles between changes, can the mfr give me grief in the event of a warranty claim since I didn't change oil at 3750 miles?

My understanding is that the dealer can give you grief if not changing the oil is a direct cause if the damage that is in question.

My research shows that Nissan OEM is inferior to other filters out there. I'm not saying it's crap, as I have used Nissan OEM filters for the entire first 100k miles (I bought these in bulk). But I just started doing my own oil changes and on the G35/350Z forums, they discuss this and someone actually cuts one open to prove that it's not that great. My engine runs as it did since I bought it, so clearly it's doing it's job but going forward I'm making a more informed decision. Especially since Nissan OEM filters are not "cheap", they're around $8 I think.

This website will give you more information than you would want:

I change my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles even if I use synthetic and do replace my crush washer every time. I don't read too much into what oil filter to use, I just now try to stay in the "recommended" filter and avoid the ones that are mentioned on the website.

I then purchase the filter that is cheapest and still on the "good" list or whatever is on sale. Currently, Wix has been the most cost efficient and I've been using Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40. I've had the best success with 5w-40, but is hard to find in bulk at my local auto store.

thanks guys just wonderring ive always used the oem one but thinking of going for the k&n next time

can't go wrong there -- it's very similar to the mobil 1 and it also has a handy nut on the top.

I get into discussions like this all the time for some reason about oil and oil filters -- if you do regular street driving and change your oil on a consistent basis, it isn't going to make a material difference what oil/filter you use. I'm guessing I just opened pandora box=)

yea your right . well i usually tighten the filter the most i can with my hands and thats it . i always heard not to tighten it so tight ,

I use the K&N now, switched from Mobil 1. I only changed because of the nut on top. I guess next change I will see if I even have a wrench that fits it.
