Oil filter recommendation?

I tend to use a local Valvoline quick change place but for my last vehicle (05 Xterra), I'd supply my own oil filter from Nissan. I assume the OEM Infiniti filter is also a Nissan product. I'm sure it's much higher quality filter than the filter from a quick change place. But is there another oil filter that I should consider for my FX?

The OEM Nissan doesn't break the bank and is likely a quality product. Just wonder what the aftermarket offers. Note, search for "oil filter" doesn't reveal much so thanks for your input.

Mobile 1 user, now using puraltor . whatever deal comes my way...

a little off-topic...

an one use magnets on their oil filter? or a magnetic drain plug.

While at Technosquare, I asked Tadashi the same question. He said make sure you use OEM filter ONLY, and said the the Magnet does not do much. He did say that he did not have experiance with the Magnets though.

OH, . . I see.
Then again, a little extra green also gives more power to the wheelz :err:

Did he say anything in re. to what oil to use?

He said Mobile1. I did tell him about the Royal Purpule and he said shook his head like he wasn't sure, or if he didn't know. I'm thinking of doing a double dyno to see if there is really a differance between Mobile1 and Royal Purple. But it's going to cost me $85 more. If I can talk them down, I'll do it.

I did a 246 before, and I want to know what's my after on the same dyno.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll likely stick with the OEM Nissan filter. My local Nissan dealer is much closer than the Infiniti dealer and Nissan charges $35 for an oil change vs. $45 at Infiniti. I may very well start taking the FX to Nissan for future oil changes. It may ver well be less expsnive than using valvoline & supplying my own filter and they are pretty good about getting it in and out while you wait.

Appreciate the feedback.

Most of us put Full Syntc. in our cars. I don't think the $45 covers that. Does it?

I buy my own Mobil1 and take it to them for the labor + filter = $13

That does not happen in my neck of the woods. I know there is a minimum Lift fee. The filter alone is $8 plus there is a Bottle cap thing, right?

I'll have to find the paperwork - but Im almost positive it was $13. I know for sure it was under $20. Cheryl (Metro Infiniti) takes care of the 626 crew.
