You're not gona believe me if I told you I just washed it yesterday! All the melting snow on the roads causes not clean car.

Just as an experiment I took the cover off the sub enclosure. It gave the bass a pit more punch but nothing to brag about.
SOOO, after a few days of cruzin around this test is over. I put the cover back on. It does sound better with it on. So dont try this one.

I picked up some 3 1/2" Reference speakers for the dash. These things are a tight fit with the duct work in there. I havent gotten them installed yet but look at the difference of what the Bose and it's pulp cone is like.

Well, I popped these in and they sound great. One thing though, I extended the factory wires so I had more room to play with. The passenger side I sodered the extension together and the drivers side I twisted and crimped. Does anyone think this could have an effect on speaker performance, because the passenger one sounds clearer and richer than the driver's.
Looking to change out the stock Bose subs with aftermarket ones and add an amp to give it some kick. From what I have been reading on this post it look like there maybe two different amps, one for the sub and one for the rest of the speakers. I would put in a whole new system but I need the trunk space. Does anyone know if it is possible to run this setup with out the stock amp or would I still need to keep it to run a new aftermarket amp?

eh keemo are these for the dashboard speakers? how much louder are these from the bose? im thinking of picking these up

From what I've searched about and tried, going with some kinda new sub and amp hooked up to the factory with remote volume nob would be the best bet. What about a shallow mount sub. I think JL is coming out with two this year that are supposed to be great. Get a custom box made for the passenger side of the trunk and cut the section of the trap door to the spare to fit it. This way you'll be able to get to your spare and all the equipment when you run a flat, and there'll be tons of room for all of your things. I should mention that your wires are availible from your factory amp to the after market one, +, -, remote on. You'll just need to run a power cord from the battery directly to the amp. ....I think.
These two speakers made the treble quite a bit more clear, but with only changing two of the dash speakers, you wont hear a huge difference. So it's a stepping stone to swapping them all out. The passenger one is a really tight fit, but the Reference series goes in. Kappa's dont fit for the dash, they're too deep.
