Not sure why, but I just bought a CTS-V

Sweet ride! I like caddys, I would however get the most extended warranty. The reason I say that is my in-laws have one with the north star, they came to FL to visit us. My father in law asked if I would check the oil, I said it's new it shouldn't be checked, he said it burns a quart of oil every 1k miles. Of course I thought BS! Sure enough it's right in the owners manual, also he just broke 65k and it's leaking oil. I took it to the dealer and of course out of warranty, the tech told me ALL north star will leak oil over time, the solution is to pull the motor and reinstall the gasket from the block to the tranny and add some high temp PVC at the tune of $2600.00. Bad part he said it would do it again, and that GM don't care because it generally doesn't rear it's head until out of warranty! I love the caddy's prob the smoothest ride on the road, I'm not trying to be a buzz kill, just informing you of my past experience. Good luck

Almost every mechanic I've talked to around here in Detroit has said that the North Star engine is the worst engine that GM has ever made to date. Like if your starter goes out u have to take apart the engine. They also said that 100%. The engines will fail. It's how they are engineered. I'm sorry I don't know the details. But I hear a good rule of thumb is they start having the issues around 80k miles but of course depends. And then the new whatever u need to do is so labor intensive its several grand.

Some mechanics won't work on north stars in this area.

We recently sold my parents Cadillac DTS which is why I know so much about them just not the engineering details lol

So my wife wasnt too keen on her Altima and even though it was the v6 5spd I told her I would get her something else. After looking at Honda civics and deciding to buy a new one all hell broke loose in the land of practical reason when I opened up carmax and saw this.

Well.... I bought it for her and now she is madly in love with another man. With 6 spds and 400 horsepower I cant blame her. My dilemma is still trying to drive my fx and not steal her car all the time. I love the fx.... it is a lot more refined and tight feeling on the road even with its age, but man that caddy is fast.

I get the feeling you bought it because you like the power, even though it is for your wife. Nice car!! Too bad you will need to take it to a circuit track to fully appreciate what it can do!!

YESSSSS I bought it for the power.. and I always loved these... but I have a wife who appreciates it too. She always wanted a mustang and she drives a stick, so I 1 upped her with the caddy. Trust me, I drive it too!

Oh and yea, it has an ls6, no way I would touch a northstar. This is an entirely different animal. My mech has a couple vettes and could work on this in his sleep. Bought an extended warranty that already paid for itself and I'm happy.

Thanks for all the love...
