Not sure why, but I just bought a CTS-V

So my wife wasnt too keen on her Altima and even though it was the v6 5spd I told her I would get her something else. After looking at Honda civics and deciding to buy a new one all hell broke loose in the land of practical reason when I opened up carmax and saw this.

Well.... I bought it for her and now she is madly in love with another man. With 6 spds and 400 horsepower I cant blame her. My dilemma is still trying to drive my fx and not steal her car all the time. I love the fx.... it is a lot more refined and tight feeling on the road even with its age, but man that caddy is fast.

Logan, I know my brain doesnt work well, especially around crazy nice/fast cars. Add to that its my wife 30th bday and I couldnt help myself. Besides, I had to buy something that could keep up with your newly redesigned FX right? Congrats on the progress. I hope she is worth it. I cant see a one of a kind FX being a downside, they are so unique to begin with. Yours will be a monster.

Nice! I wanted one, but wife doesn't drive stick, so no good...I do have my eye on the 2nd gen wagon though. If I ever decide to replace the FX...

I would take the wagon, such a sleeper. Learn her how to drive a stick man.... lol. I was surprised that being pregnant my wife actually enjoys it, figured she would rather be lazy, but no... she was telling me this morning how she was trying to find 5th from a downshift since the gearbox is a little vague. I'm proud lol. Seriously though, mileage is about the same, overall costs are similar too. I know its a big jump from Nissan to GM but the LS6 is a bulletproof engine. Had to get extended warranty since the rear end is high failure. Otherwise, I think she will enjoy. You could always give your wife the FX and get the Caddy for yourself.

I love the V series! Good choice!

Thanks Chedman, she always wanted a mustang, so I figured this would shut her up.

Pretty sure that the V would clean my clock! I haven't had the chance to get behind the wheel of one but I heard they are a boatload of fun to drive.

you have no idea how fast they are until you drive one and the supercharger sounds amazing!!! I believe its 565hp..? I have driven an auto sedan and a the manual wagon,. If that wagon had not been red w/cream... I would have found a way to afford it. It was the most amazing car I have ever driven. Everything about it was perfection.

FX is already hers; unfortunately my company provides me with a car so I drive a POS Chrysler every day (I wish they had stayed bankrupt). I just mod it and drive it around on weekends. She can drive stick - not well, but can - she just doesn't want to. We live in the city and even I hate driving MT, every time I borrow my brother's 6MT G, I get irritated after a little while with all the stop and go. Even he's tired of it and thinking about trading it in on a C63. So basically all cars have to be auto. Next summer, I'll probably get her a convertible G37 or 335 and the FX will become my car to mess around in. I have considered trading the FX in on a CTS-V wagon or X5M, but honestly the trade in value isn't that great so I'd rather just keep it, mod it, and buy another car to have around.

Back on topic, congratulations!

Thank God this is an 05 with no supercharger :) That is one mean wagon though.

That's awesome. The CTS-V is such a beast. I have a strange attraction to the CTS-V Coupe.

I'm the only one in my family that didn't go Cadillac for my car but I love them. You won't be disappointed. I was just thinking though that it would've been sweet if they made the new ATS in a 2 door coupe like the new CTS. They would've sold like hot cakes.
