Noob Question on tires

I have Bridge Dueler HPs with about 35k miles and they are making some bad road noise and tread is looking a little worn, so that gives me an excuse to throw some new shoes on my FX. 2010 265/60r18

I have 18" on it and as we all know our choices are limited. If I go down to the "T" rated tires, my options open up. I know speed rating means more than just how fast they are rated, but I am not sure what the down side would be.

Questions:
1.) Will T rated tires be ok for normal use? What would the down sides be?
2.) Anybody have any experience with Continental CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus?

If T rated is fine, It comes down to the Crosscontact LX20($725ish) or Michelin Lat tours($600) Any suggestions? I live in Central Ohio, so we do get some adverse weather and I drive mostly highway.

Thanks, Mark P.

Thanks for the link Drac, but I have already read that one. There was only one reference on the "speed" rating thing and they were referencing 20" tires. I am not sure what going down 1 speed rating will do. Or even if it is a big NO NO.

That thread I made though was for my stock 20's however I think MPOhio has the stock 18's. Not too sure which ones are good. Why not just go with OEM again?

Yes I have the 18" tires. The bridge duelers are noisy as hell and there are much better tires out there. I have been doing a little research and have much more to go, but my placard on my door says 109 V rated. Which is speed rated for 149MPH. I have read many posts on Tirerack of similar MFG SUV owners and that is what spurred my thought of dropping down a speed rating or two. They are of the same size and power. I mean, WTF would I need a 149 mPH tire when I rarely drive over 70 ? Almost all the tires on Tirerack are "T" or "V" tires and all the ratings on the V tires suck!! The continental CC lx20 got stellar reviews(T rated).

Ok, I think I just found my answer. I don't like it, but I gotta live with it.
