Redline 5W-30 is full synthetic with ester additives.

I'm going to send my motor oil to have it analyzed at Blackstone Labs, and report back. In the mean time I'm switching to Redline.
That is an excellent idea to have it analyzed, I have often been going to do it, but never have. I know my friends swear by their oil analysis reports they get.

There's a whole thread topic on these Blackstone analysis reports over on myg37.com that I've been reading up on. Lots of good information on there.

www.bobistheoilguy.com is also a good site for some motor oil info too.

Iit sure seems like someone somewhere would have already sent in the Ester oil for analysis. Personally, I'd want to see pretty compelling EVIDENCE of a benefit before I would switch to a drastically more expensive oil due to what is essentially an assumption based on a manufacturer recommendation. (Nissan recommends an oil with ester additives, so all ester oil must be better) At least send in your current oil brand before you switch so that, later when you send in the Redline sample, you can see if there is indeed a positive difference.

Ordered my free Blackstone Labs oil test kit today. I'm having my oil change in January, so I will gather my sample and send it in to them. It cost $25 to let them analyze it.

Right now I'm running Mobil 1 5W30 EP extended performance, and will be switching to Redline 5W30 with ester additives.
