newb with lift kit

If your only looking sor a couple of inches with like a rally look I think would be fairly easy. Move front strut brackets down, the back will take a little more effort but I think pretty doable.

say's who? why the hell not? :laugh: that would be the easy way to do it, fx on a titan frame.... if you keep the fx engine it wouldn't even be all that hard. every one of those cars above are just dropped on a truck frame same way, would be the same thing really... I think the fx would look sick as a lifted 4x4

For the military look I'm thinking 17" solid or outlaw black rims with a Nitto or Dick Cepek toothy tread. Because the FX has a monocoque chassis and a truck has a frame...? The cars above have bodies that can be lifted off their frames in one piece. I guess you're the expert but doesn't the FX have body panels that attach to the chassis? What exactly would you put on the Titan frame?
 
o god why dont you just dump that car already lifted fx? ill cry if i see that lol...:err::err::confused::confused::eek:
 
the camaro is as much unibody as the fx is, it was not a full frame car at all... the rear springs mounted to the unibody, only difference is the camaro used a seperate bolt on front subframe suspended off of the unibody where the fx front structure is continued off the unibody instead... you could just strip out all the suspension & subrames & drop the whole fx unibody onto a frame no problem, fx unibody is at least as strong if not stronger than any body on frame body would normally even be... it def can be done...
 
Actually If think if he raises is up like a rally/wrangler status, it won't look half bad, as long as he takes away anything flashy haha
 
Thank for the multitude of interest in this project. N2FX, thats a lot like I was thinking about but all black in trims (where can I get that Bull bar?). I've checked around town in Sarasota. Car lifts are big here and there's a Cadillac Crossover that looks great lifted. In research I found that there is no package for a FX. I've lifted 2 trucks and 3 jeeps since I've been able to drive. I wont lift any vehicle without an aftermarket kit. If there was an FX kit I'm sure you guys would know about it.

Someone had to ask first, again thanks for the suggestions which is why I came here.

In Sarasota I see really high car lifts. Impala's, Cutlass, Caddies, they are all over (all must be hand fabrications). I've seen so many car lifts I thought I was missing out on something. The kitless lift is out, but I'm going away from the street speed look to more urban assault.

I think a simple solution (via your suggestions) is to just powder coat the 20" rims black, leave the lug nuts showing (black coated of course), add Blizzack Tires which have the look I want. I already have a Thule basket and KC has 5" ATV lights that I can mount on the baskets 1" bars but I would like a smaller light if possible. Ever see the movie "I am Legend"? That SUV had lights all the way around the basket.

I gotta get that Bull bar! Add exhaust and that might just be enough. Maybe some tinted headlight covers The really good news is that I just sold my wakeboard boat that I cant use in these rivers which just gave me a 700.00 a month raise plus I have the money from the truck sale.

Yep. thats it but without the chrome and stainless. Black and as dark as possible. I'll still be the problem of the neighborhood.

FYI. my wife wanted to know who I was talking to on the net. I told her I was gonna fix her old car up to suit my needs. At the same time I was playing the dukes of hazzard youtube video that one of you posted. She looked at me across the room and said. "Your not going to lift it are you?"
 
That fx looks sick, never seen that before. I really hope you pull through with this project , I think it will be really cool
 
Romik makes bullbars for the FX. In the site they have stainless and black powder coated. Or just use bedliner on a stainless one if you can't find a black powder coated one.

Just kidding. Lifting aside, I think some wheels/tires like these would be cool for your "urban assault" theme assuming you could get them small enough. Maybe a 14" or 15" wheel with a large tread tire...:

I would have to agree with her taste. Looks like I'm becoming a fan of those Cooper Zeons that N2FX has suggested. Anything fitting the stock 20" rim that has a bite tread.
I gotta write these suggestions down in a project journal tomorrow and start researching product. Thanks for the photos and links.
 
Hey coach fox, maybe it's time to revive this thread. I'm looking to take same route with my FX35. A subtle lift with some trail tires and taking it off road. I see your last thread was crack in 2010. I'm wondering if u ever went through with the mod. Let me know if not, so I can start my own.
 
I was lurking on Inifiniti forums a few months ago and I came across MEGAN Coilovers you can adjust the height +2" I believe which would be enough to possibly fit some 32"s tires. Personally I would love to try the same, The photos on that particular thread were on photo bucket and have since been taken down so I'm still itching to know what a FX looks like lifted. Cheers!
