New Wheels, Tire and H&R Questions

Hey Sydney-Did Forgestar just start producing the F14 in the Gunmetal finish? The site images in GM look pretty tight, are you thinking darker? If so how much darker as a%?

Wow, you guys got some good deals. I believe the $140 include the sandblasting/mounting&balancing though so it helps take some of that price down.

Logan - I wasn't able to get gunmetal, as they didn't have that color in stock in a 20" size which is why the powder coating. This is a new company (division of iForged) that seems to have gotten a ton of positive response in the G/BMW/Audi world. The common theme was slooowww/super late delivery due to backed up orders.

If you/or anyone are thinking about ordering, deal directly with them and not a 3rd party. I contacted them, was told they had only 2 sets at the moment in 20's (Titanium) so I jumped on it and took a month for them to build out. I've heard others waiting 2/3 months after being told a few weeks though when not dealing directly.

Anyway, I did this quick chop earlier for my side vents ... going to try and keep to the same gunmetal they have, maybe a tad bit darker, and match the side vents the same color ... something sort of like this:

thats not a bad price for pc considering thats with mount and balance its usually about 20-25$ per tire for mount and balance around me

I apologize in advanced for the tease, pics coming soon though ... was just excited because the wheels are on, look good and there are no rubbing issues!
(20x10 on 295/45)

I need to do some wet sanding in order to fit the caps (powder coat made for a tight fit), then I'll try and snap some quick pics. Initial thoughts are 1) this looks mean and 2) my side vent stands out even more since they don't match the wheels any longer lol. One thing at a time I guess ...

Logan - I'll get that measurement for you tomorrow.

In the meantime, here were some quick snaps ... couldn't get back far enough in my garage to get the full shot lol. Lighting sucked, kind of hard to get an accurate read on the color ... it's essentially a very dark gunmetal/charcoal color, there's definitely contrast between this and the black though which is what I wanted. Better ones coming tomorrow.

Looks great Syd. The eventual drop will def enhance the wheel fill but it looks really, really nice as is AND they look perfectly flush. How is the ride?

Thanks for the feedback guys, the little I drove so far was very nice. A flush fit and plenty of room for a BBK too. I was surprised at the noticeable difference in acceleration/grip ... of course that could all be in my head but that's OK, I feel faster at least .

Next up (as I impatiently wait on H&R), I need to figure out what trim I'm getting painted and weather or not it should be black or the dark gunmetal to try and complete the look.

Your new wheels are quite a bit lighter than the stock rims, according to the post you made on the wheel weight thread (almost 10 lbs lighter each, assuming your 2009 18" rims weigh about the same as a 2003-08 18" rim)...that will make a huge difference...like yours is no turbocharged! ...OK, that's an exaggeration, but wait till you lower it...you'll be even faster!

When I removed my 09 OEM 18s with the Bridgestone A/S tires I weighed them, and I was very surprised, they were lighter then the 1st Gen wheels. The wheel and tire together weighed about 62 lbs. They were only a couple pounds heavier than my Enkei GTC 01 Racing wheels and Yokohama parada 265/50/20 tires. My Enkeis weigh 24.3 lbs apiece.
Therefore I don't think Sydney will see a real difference in weight.

That's very true GEE, I think that it's not so much the weight savings as it is being able to move up from 18's to 20's and some fat tires without adding any additional weight.

But DJ, you're right ... as soon as I get those springs (and my IS stickers on) I'll basically be TT'd

For sure there is a big difference going from the 18s to the 20s, I also noticed a handling improvement. I think the main thing is our new wheels are nice and light, not like many of those heavy bigger wheels out there which would hamper performance.
+1 for springs in the Spring.

THe FX rode so much better with the IS sticker, you must get one quickly

Photo shoot @ Volunteer park in front of the Black hole sun. I'll drag out the Mamiya with the Phase one P30 back......assuming we get above 16 degrees :)

Logan, we'll have to plan something, needs to warm up ASAP for that though!

Soon - oem tpms were swapped in and all is good.
