New member here - lurking a bit and in the market to purchase a FX35. Great community and enthusiast group here and it's been quite informational so far. After researching the FX here I've narrowed it down to a 05+ AWD 35, as I will be modding and eventually might want to go F/I but it's my DD as well so that will be a decision for a later date. The 06 and newer facelift is attractive and probably what I'm leaning towards but since going into this knowing I'll be updating it I'm less concerned about the color of gauges as I typically like aftermarket in dash Nav systems better and have a good audio shop in my back yard who I have a relationship with for custom fab work etc as I imagine I'll have to relocate the OEM display for the HVAC controls.

For starters the mod list looks like Plenum spacer, Intake, Exhaust, BC COs, GTSpec bracing, and a brake upgrade with a tune. Probably stick with OEM 20s on 25mm spacers until other mods are done and then I can get it some new shoes.

Any NW or West coast FXers who have recommendations for a tuner would be appreciated! I'm not totally opposed to making it down to Cali (just moved back here from the bay area a year ago), but for obvious reasons closer is better for repeat visits.

Shame it appears White is only available with the beige guts - have it narrowed down to Black, Beryllium, or Gray with ebony interior.

Well enough rambling for now - great site!

First - Welcome to iS!

Nice proposed mod list. I would suggest the BC's and wheels or spacers first followed by the GT Spec braces. You will be amazed with the ride difference.

There is an AWD tuner in Seattle That has an UPREV license - R&H garage. They purchased Kito auto sports that I used to take my ride to. Great shop, great work and they do AWD tuning......

Welcome to IS! I've spoken to the dudes at COBB tuning (Surgeline) in Tualatin and they can tune our FXs with Uprev. That's the only place I've found that has both Uprev experience and an AWD dyno long enough to accomodate us.

Welcome to :iS:! Wow seems like you've done your research and know what you are looking for, good luck in your search. You will have fun in any fx you choose:tup:.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been partial to the Infiniti lineup for a while and had a coworker with a copper 45 and that's when I knew when I went for a CUV/SUV that I'd have to include the FX in my options. Being back in Central Oregon and enduring my first winter it's time to pull the trigger - now it's just a matter of finding "the one".

Been around many forums and moderated a few in the past so I know rule #1 "Search is your best friend"...spose that's why I sound semi-educated

@Logan - Thanks for the tips on order of install - completely agree it's logical to get the handling updates and such before throwing more power down to the contact patch and a big reason the FX suits me is it isn't a truck platform and once the CG is lower along with tightening up the chassis I can imagine it's going to perform well. I'll do some more searching for sways too - imagine eliminating some roll will help in the twisties!

@Tchuck - thanks for the tip on the Surgeline guys, around my area it's mostly modded subbies and so I know of their work. Once I get my new baby in the garage and get the base bolt ons done I'll have to touch base with them.

YO Catalyst - You need to sign up for the NWFX! We are preparing for a spring meet when the NW weather decides to cooperate

I recently stopped by ForgedPerformance over in Troutdale, OR.-- they mentioned that they have some experience with Uprev. Not sure how much experience though. I think their website is trackforged.com

I originally intended to go to HorsePowerFreaks but apparently they have narrowed their scope to just BMW's now.

@tchuck: have you had any experience with ForgedPerformance?

Schrammie - thanks for the tip, and after reviewing their site appears they have the AWD dyno available for this kind of tune. Also in talking with good friend who has a E85 tuned Subaru LGT...might have another guy who's capable of this kind of custom tune, waiting to hear if he can work with UpRev. He's a one man show but my buddy opted for his work over some of the other shops in PDX as he knows his stuff and bottomline was he took ownership of the project to ensure satisfaction. If it's an option I'll update the NW FXers...

Welcomem to the site man. GL on your search! Seems like the mod bug already started biting hard :smile (2):

Actually that's an understatement...

I've been into cars and modding before I even had my learner's permit. I had to put that temptation in check to ensure I wouldn't go overboard as I focused on my career path, and drove a Saab 9-5 Aero for 8 years. Just ended my "saab story" a couple weeks ago and am forging ahead with a modworthy ride, but has to meet certain criteria for my lifestyle and climate here - which is what brought me to the FX.

Course in that time I managed to find just as many other expensive hobbies - down in the bay area of Cali I was into competitively racing Radio Controlled 1:10 scale AWD Touring Cars, and managed to sink over $10K into that hobby. Then I realized when I moved back to Oregon where there are limited tracks, and had to give up my obsession, that I could have financed a decent portion of a 1:1 scale project with what my hobby budget was!

I have. They told me that their AWD dyno wasn't long enough for the FX and that it's not adjustable, so our conversation ended there. I talked to them about a year ago though, so maybe they've upgraded. :dontknow:

I've also been to HPFreaks (they share a parking lot with my local Audi dealer). They seemed much more focused on reselling performance parts online than anything else. They actually sent me to Forged Performance.
