New FX50 owner, signing on...

I agree 100% about the attention. It draws a lot of negatively awkward stares and a lot of "wow that thing looks mean" stares at the same time... it's definitely an attention-getter. Murder it out and post pics for us to drool over. First part of murdering it... those damn vents you talked about.

The semi-awkward mean-mug and the tacky fender vents are pretty much 90% of what I see wrong with the new generation. The motor is 99% of what's right about it :P Everything else just falls somewhere in the middle (like the tail lights and head lights, I don't know what to think about them lol)

post some pics of your FX when you get a chance. 29 here

I tried... The system said I need to have a certain number of posts before I am allowed to attach images. So now I'm going around responding to random threads telling people when I like their wheels! (Love the Enkei stock wheels on the FX50, but I won't be able to stay stock for long.)

The v8 makes the front grow on ya pretty quickly (at least it did for me!)

which brings up a point... when you do get aftermarket wheels... and you decide to sell the stock wheels... they'll be quite demanding... I'd be interesting to see how they fit on a 1st gen FX.

I wonder how much the 21's weigh? I am sure some members with 22's wouldn't mind trading...:6wink: Even painting the 21's graphite or gloss black might look nice on a lowered 09 or 1Gen. PS time..

also, that black looks hot.

Very very nice! I luv the interior.

Never noticed before but the rear hatch has pretty square design to it. Well at least it does in the profile shot.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Wheels: Good idea. I'll definitely do what I did back when I swapped out my stock wheels a few years ago on my I35 (for some lightweight 3-piece Volks) and see if anyone on the board wants them before I do the ebay thing. I'll keep the stock feet on the FX50 for a few months at least, but as soon as I find a lighter weight option with some black in it (and dimensions that will clear the brakes), the stock wheels will go.

Yep, you're correct. I was parked next to a white 2008 FX35 today down at the Long Beach aquarium and the difference was pretty obvious. I love the body style of the 2009 from the rear, but I do miss the more aerodynamic/swoopy look of the 1st Gen's backside. The rear 3/4 view of that model was just fire. It was very distinctive.

The 2009 looks very car-ish from the front. It's like they melded the front of a "widebody M45" sort of vehicle to the 1st gen FX. They definitely followed Porsche's design direction, making the front of their crossover look more like a car. Although now Porsche has accentuated their front air dams (?) more, so from the front it looks like... a Porsche hood w/ huge air dams underneath it? This paragraph is just my way of saying that I feel the 2009 FX looks less awkward than the Cayenne (any model). I have -never- understood that thing. (I'd understand it in about 2 seconds if I had the Cayenne S Turbo, though!)

It also looks like the 2009 rides about 2" closer to the ground than the 2008 I compared it to. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I did notice it.

Just for some ideas . . .

Thanks!

Now that first one is more of what I'm talking about. Do you happen to know anything about the wheels on that one? And the cross-drilled rotors on the second, so someone has already sized/fit those for an '09? Or is that one a (photo)chop. How do I get more information about that? Thx again!

The first pic is a clip from a picture of my car. I used them cuz it was the right angle for this official media shot. They are Gianelle V5's, I think the're called the 505's now. The 2nd pic with rotors is just a random clip from some other site. It's not realistic at all. I was just goin for the look.

Ah, ok. I sensed the PS work on the second one ("photo-chop", ha ha), but the first one... You have skills vato!

Honestly, I didn't like the new styling at all. But after a bunch of us went to the launch party and got to test drive it. I'm all for it. Kinda regret i didn't wait. You should show up at our next meet. Most likely be the first 2nd gen FX from here to join us. Just don't let some of the members here drive your car (like me). We'll destroy the breaks.
