Hi everyone!

I purchased a new, leftover 2011 Infiniti FX35 AWD on 11/30/11. Liquid Platinum with Graphite leather. Premium Package, Deluxe Touring Package, Illuminated Kick Plates, and Roof Rail Cross Bars. I've currently got 2,600 miles on it and I'm really happy with my decision. The only things I've added are the WeatherTech all-season floor mats and cargo area mat and a couple of bike trays for the roof rack.

Prior to this purchase, I had a 2007 Acura TL and a 2010 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X. I enjoyed the TL on the weekends and the truck was great for the crappy weather, utility, and mountain biking trips, but I got tired of maintaining two relatively nice vehicles (and only having a one-car garage). So, I sold the TL to a co-worker and decided to trade the truck as with the sales tax savings, it wasn't worth trying selling it privately.

I always loved the G sedans, so I initially looked at the EX35 and liked the drive (and price), but it was too small for my needs. I drove an FX and was hooked. It was the perfect blend of sport, luxury, and utility for me. Before I purchased my FX, I did my research and drove a 4Runner, RX350, Q5, X5, and a GLK. Nothing compared to the FX for a combination of driving characteristics, value, and reliability. It really made for an easy decision.

I had a hard time deciding on the 2011 versus the 2012 as I thought the refresh of the front end was pretty minor and actually preferred the 2011 20-inch wheel design, so the decision came down to the price. As I was way late in the year, it did take some time to find the color and options I wanted, as I was not going to compromise on color or equipment, but it all worked out in the end. I got one of the last silver 2011 models with 20-inch wheels in the NY/NJ area at a solid discount.

The only two issues I've had to date are a weird tire and a finicky bluetooth system. First, I think my left front tire is bad or at least really noisy between 60-80mph on certain pavement but it doesn't pull or vibrate or anything. Second, my old-ass smartphone just isn't compatible with the new system, but I've been due for a new phone anyway. When I have the car in next week for it's first service, I'll see what they think of the loud tire.

I'm not planning any mods, but I'll spend plenty of time detailing her up come spring. I'll do a few 3000 mile conventional oil changes and then do Mobil 1 and a tire rotation every 5000 miles (these tires are already cupping!) as most of my driving is on the highway.

We've had no snow since I purchased my FX and that's alright by me. Way too many idiots on the road.

Sorry about the long intro post, but I'm excited to be a new FX owner!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I should be able to post a few pics now that I've got my 10 posts, so here it goes:

Here she is the day I brought her home. She still needs to be detailed correctly with clay bar and polish, but it'll do for now. When it's clean and the sun hits it right, it almost looks pearl white to me. But I am color-blind, so what the hell do I really know.

I'm an avid MTB and road cyclist, so the roof rack and factory cross bars were a necessity. The bike racks are all aluminium and match up well with the chrome trim and aluminum roof rack. When they are closed up, they are pretty unobtrusive (for a bike rack, anyway). I prefer this to adding a hitch mount to the rear end.

My girlfriend/navigator, Amy, took this shot while crossing the GWB yesterday on our way to a little Hudson River road trip. We started in Yonkers and went north to Beacon through Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Croton-on-Hudson, and Cold Spring to check out all the historic sites. We had a great lunch at a little place on Main Street in Cold Spring. I'm pretty sure we were the poorest people there. We sat by the window and saw numerous A8's, CL550's, and 750Li's. I even spotted a S8 and a A8 with the W12 engine. Then we hopped the Newburgh-Beacon bridge and headed south on 9W and 218 through West Point and over Bear Mountain before heading home on the Palisades Parkway. A great little six-hour jaunt. The NAV was a little screwy as there are Routes 9, 9D, and 9W in that area. The NAV seemed indifferent to the suffixes but still got the job done.

SIDE STORY: Before getting to the GWB, I spotted what I thought was a white 09+ FX50S ahead of me on the Turnpike. At a distance, I could see the red "S" emblem on the rear, so I assumed it was my big brother, the V8. I explained to Amy how cool the V8 would be. All she heard was "more money, less gas mileage". I'm glad I decided NOT to drive the FX50 or I'd have probably plunked down the extra dough. Maybe next time. Anyways, he was moving along at 80mph but I decided to have a little fun with him and requested a fly-by. Granted. As I buzzed him, I observed that it was actually an FX35 with the 20-inch OE wheels. I guess he just added the red "S" emblem to throw me off. I mean, there is no "S" version of the FX35, right?? I kept it at about 90mph for a mile or so and gave him a chance to play. Sure enough he came back by me at about 105mph. We ended up at the E-Z Pass booth at the same time and gave each other a thumbs up. Ah, the NJ Turnpike, it's as close to the Autobahn as we'll ever get.

And here is a very disciplined bunny. I think he's cool. And I like pancakes.

lol nice story man! FX drivers are really friendly and were a tight little community. Everytime there is one on the road they always honk the horn at me.

There is no sport model for the FX35, it's only the FX50. Guess he just added it on there for fun haha....

I thought so. At a distance it's tough to tell if it's a fugazi. At first I figured he had a set of 20-inch wheels for his winter tires. Tricky.

Nice ride and congrats !! Im also in NJ and hope to be picking up an 12' FX next week but in dark grey :smug:

The '12 front end is really growing on me. I like the grille, still undecided on the chrome around the fogs. See you at a meet in the future!
