So I've been a bit of lurker on this site for a few years.

I bought my 2004 almost three years ago and absolutely loved every minute with it. Looking for something more current, I started looking for a used FX50 about six months ago. White was my first choice in color and I finally found one on ebay two weeks ago. I impulsively bid on the car until I met the reserve price (never bought anything on ebay before) and won the car. I was happy with the price I paid, and was excited to take a road trip out to Virginia Beach to trade in my old FX for a 2009 FX50S.

I left from Wisconsin last Sat. evening covering almost 1200 miles to get to the dealership on Monday morning.

I immediately left the dealership after my purchase and was back in WI tuesday morning.

A couple of thoughts:
What a phenomenal engine, deep growl, limitless power, not as thirsty as advertised. ( I got about 22mpg per gallon on the way home)
Plenty of gadgets to keep me occupied on the long journey. My first car with Navigation, SiriusXM, amoung other things.
I was always happy with the way my 2004 handled, but this car is no comparison.

Now for the bad.

After a few days I have had some time to think about how my purchase went.

I guess I feel when I am buying a car from an Infiniti dealership I expect I should be treated better than buying at the used car lot on the corner. I wanted to be at the dealer when it opened, which I did, arriving 15 after opening. The salesman had called me ten minutes earlier to see where I was. When I arrived, the car wasn't even around, it was in detailing. I had to sit around and wait for an hour while he made small talk and needed some information for the finance guy. I had already faxed him all my insurance, financing, license and other information five days before arriving hoping to expedite the process.

When the car finally came up front about an hour and a half later, I was excited to go see it and he suggested we go take it for a ride. I immediately noticed that there were some black marks on the rear left wheel and tried to wipe them off with my finger. The "stains" were not coming off, and I asked him what it was. He replied " I don't know, but it should come off with some steel wool." I thought he either he thinks I'm a complete idiot, or he knows nothing about cars. STEEL WOOL on what the finance guy told me were $2000 a piece wheels in trying to sell me a warranty that covered them.

After driving the car I felt a little better and waited some more time to sign the paperwork. I had inquired on numerous occasions about the ipod cord and the salesman said he thought he had one in his desk. After alomst four hours of waiting ( I'd never make it through DC before rush hour now) I was ready to go, but still no ipod cord. I asked him again, and he said he didn't have one. I was getting irrate and asked if parts had one, he said they did for $45. The salesman wanted me to pay, because he said the vehicles didn't come with the cord. After reading the owners manual, they did indeed come with the cord, and I still can't believe they would charge me for a cord after spending the amount of money I did.

Here is a picture of the wheel, looks like something is etched into them:

What do you guys think? While I was there I also observed the salesman at the next desk, literally taking a nap and the sales manager screaming to the whole showroom that they "better sell some people before I get back" when leaving for lunch. I love my new car save the f'd up wheel, but am I just being too picky, have a little buyers remorse, or is this the way a luxury car dealership should be?

Thanks for taking the time to read this rather lengthy post.

Feel no regret for buying this beast, you will enjoy every minute owing this car.
As for the dealership - you just weren't lucky I guess. I bought my car a little less than a month ago and it took me exactly an hour to get out of the dealership on my 2009 fx35. Best dealership experience ever ( it was Peninsula Infinity in Redwood City , CA )
Congrats on your new car!

Congrats on your new purchase. It seems that the dealer you bought it from is a tool. Take your new FX to an Infiniti dealer and ask them to pull history. If it all looks good then enjoy and forget about the idiots you bought it from :top:

Congrats on the upgrade! While the transaction wasn't perfect, move on and enjoy your new car. :top:

Congrats on the new ride! The FX50S is a beautiful beast

My experience with the purchase of my 2009 FX50S was different. I bought from auto trader. negotiated a price, then booked a flight. The next day he sent me a few pictures of the car to get me excited showing that it's already clean, windows and for sale removed, and just waiting for me....he was working out the financing as well shopping getting the best rate for me. A week later I flew down, the salesman picked up me at the airport with a very nice Infiniti. Got to the dealer, the FX50S was sitting all shiny right in front just waiting for me to go in. When I got in, they brought in their "expert" to show me all the bells and whistles and how it all works. He drove me around and my wife, then I drove and he demoed everything...how cruise works, DCA, LDP, LDW, cameras, tire pressure, etc etc. I tried to connect my iPhone and noticed no cable. He said he'll get one no big deal. Sales guy came back out and asked how my ride went. I said great. Got introduced to the finance guy. He never mentioned about any warranty since they were selling me the car with an Infiniti 100,000 mile warranty already. It was an easy transaction. I had agreed on an "out the door" price and it was an "out the door" price meaning after taxes, title, doc fees, etc it was what the price we agreed upon. I remember seeing the paperwork thinking wow it's much lower than we agreed upon and the finance guy said it was the out the door price you guys agreed so after everything that was the price...so I was happy the sales guy remembered and that that went smooth.

After all the paperwork was signed, we both got out, the general manager was outside and came to greet me, handed me the iPod cable and said you are going to love this car. One of the best cars he has ever driven and to enjoy every moment. As I was walking out I was chit chatting with the salesman again. Long story short I had asked him how the price was so low because on kbb it was appraised about $15k more. At this point the docs were signed and everything was done I just needed to drive away, but I was so curious as hell so I needed to ask him this. He said the general manager bought it an Infiniti auction a few months ago and has been having a hard time selling it and it's just been sitting on the lot costing him interest and he lost over $3k selling it at the price he sold it to me. It was mid October, they were going to get more in and needed to get this off his lot, in combination from buying it for too much from the Infiniti auction (not a regular one but where the Infiniti sells them to Infiniti dealerships) and that it doesn't matter if they lose money on a car here or there it all depends on the bottom line. As long as the year ends with good positive gains, that's all the matters.

We got home, next day salesman called and asked how our drive was, made sure we made it back okay. I wish the Tenessee dealership was local to me because I absolutely loved my experience with them. Although I've been really lucky with the Infiniti dealerships around here too.

Now you know my story! :)

BTW, your wheels, that looks like just oversprayed tire dressing or wheel wax that never got off. You probably just need to give those wheels a very very very strong polish and rub and eventually it will come off I'm sure, you'll just get your hand tired in the process or get some sort of rotary to polish it off just be careful with it. I'm sure wheels will turn out like new. Some tire dressings are so strong, as well as waxes and if you don't get them off in time, they will stick on these wheels like a bitch.

I remember driving home that first day and Kim and I felt like a king and queen. It's such an awesome machine. It's sooo luxurious with so many bells and whistles. Today, I already take it for granted. Only until I don't drive it for a week and drive another car I quickly see the difference in quality, but still not as much as how I felt that first day I drove it home. It was an unbelievable feeling and drive I will never forget.

actually, I just remembered, the chord was in the glovebox, it was the adapter for the chord that was missing because I had asked them why my iPhone 4 wasn't charging and they said I needed an adapter that he later brought, but the actual cable was already in the car. The cables and adapters are nothing though relative to the total cost. Plus, I'm sure the dealerships near you are superb in comparison and that's all that matters anyway since you won't see those guys again.

Let the mod bug begin! :)

Looking at those wheels it looks like someone ran through something. No big deal just some Meguiar's M105 compound and a microfiber towel and it should be gone.

When I bought my 09 FX it also came with no iPod cable. But Kenny (da mayor) on here got one for me for free directly from the parts department. No big deal. I also had no nice instruction manual set and he got that for me too. All the books, pen, leather binder, etc. Infiniti of Massepequa treated me really good when buying the FX. My other new car will be coming from there very soon by the way :X :X :X

Welcome back to IS! Great trade in! If the worst part of the experience was dealing with a dealer, the you know the worst is over. I had a horrible experience with my dealer when I traded my 35 in. In the end, I disputed a charge and got my $1000 back, so I'm relieved. For the black marks, try Turtle Wax bug and tar remover on the wheel. That stuff works very well on spots and stains.

Did you actually trade in the red one or do you still have it?

I have a history with the red ones - might be interested in buying yours if possible...

No, I reluctantly traded her to Barker Infiniti in Virginia Beach. She had just turned 67000 miles and the oem 20's were brand new.

Nice upgrade, you gave up the rare red FX but got a FX50 in return. Worked out awesome as for the people at the dealership, just be glad you dont have to deal with them anymore and enjoy your new ride.
