My car door was hit in January. the place i took the car to be repaired butchered my car completely. it left the shop with more dents and bruises then when it arrived. How can i twll if they even changed the door for a new one. Also they were supposed to replace the fender, i think they just bondo'd it. how can i tell if it was replaced or repaired? can i check serials or something?

Maybe take the interior door panel off and look on the inside of the door for any repair signs. Also a magnet won't stick to bondo.

well, what was the situation? did you pay full price or were you looking to like save $1,000 deductable? if you paid the price of everything new & they screwed you then of course you've got a legitimate gripe with the shop... if they saved you a nice chunk of deductable though then you can be pretty sure that they saved money on the repair by not changing parts that should have been changed...

without seeing it it's hard to make any judgement, but if you wanted to pass by my shop I'm sure I could take a quick peek & see exactly what was & wasn't done since your local... I'm located in bay ridge brooklyn... I'd take a peek at it for you... pm me & I'll send you my #...

I had taken them to court, i showed they did not. I pleaded my case and won, Yay...

What happened was they originally promised to save me the 1k D. My wife and friend (used to work at a body shop) went down to pick it up. They then said we owed them 500 for the D. that was not the original agreement. i told the dude right off the bat i got someone else i can go to that will save me the D. he said fine so i went along, they have there shop nearby so it was a choice of convenience (my mistake). Long story short, the car looked like shit, so my friend told them what to fix and we would be back the next day. the asshat then said tomorrow we should bring the entire 1k D and it will be 100 a day for everyday the car stays there. the work was ass backwards paint dust all over the place. Missing clearcoat in some places. hell they were supposed to fix a rim and they got just moved it to the back opposite side of the car. They also destroyed my paint job with paint burns and crazy swirl marks. they made my car look like it would after 5 years of abuse. To be complete assholes they dented both sides of the top pillars above the doors. total looks like a screwdriver was rolled over it.

How did you ever win in court? Did you admit to the whole $1,000 deductible thing (also known as "Insurance fraud")? It's always annoying to me when people try to dodge deductibles... this is the kind of thing that makes insurance rates so high... sigh*

wow....

sucks that the important thing at the time was saving that deductable... guess it also sucks that you winded up in a shop with no respect for your car... bad combination there for sure... & on an 09 50S no less... wow... 60K ride... why cheap out on the repair????

Well, you guys missed the point. the D was bullshit, he offered i said sure... The guy i had in LI does lambo's and Ferrari's, in hindsight i was drunk and stupid when i made the call. it was 6am jan1 and i just wanted my bed...

As for the D i paid it in full 1k, they said they never offered it. I never heard the offer as far as i am concerned.

As for cheaping out, trust me that was not the intention. the shop looked legit, the dude said they did good work. Hell the shop next door said the same thing..

What pissed me off was that they provided a receipt from kings infiniti showing they bought a new fender. Funny that the fender on my car still has the original Vin number of my car and not the OEM sticker the door had.
They made sure to tell me they were good friends with the guys at kings.

sorry man, didn't mean to really insinuate it was all your fault, just in my bussiness I see this all the time... I've seen what happened to you happen to a lot of people. I get people all the time though come in & there only concern is saving there deductable, & when I try to explain to then that the money has to come from somewhere... the insurance companies sure don't want to pay more than they have to, & then the customer doesn't want to pay either, so in the end the one that winds up paying is the vehicle itself... sucks for sure... hope you at least got a fair settlement against the shop... I've had potential customers leave cause what I had to tell them is not what they want to hear... all they want to hear is "no problem, I'll take care of that deductable for you" without ever caring about the why's or the hows......

oh, & for the record, it's not always illegal or shady to be able to save a deductable or even part of it, every situation is different & every claim is different... I'll always try to save someone where I can within reason, but won't do the things many shops will to be able to save it no matter what... the worse cases out there shops actually damage a car more to increase the claim, but these same shady shops are going to be the one to give a crappy repair too... I don't play those games at all & the customers looking to save it no matter what are the ones I'll turn away... some shops don't turn anything away & do whatever they have to to tell you what you think you want to hear...
