It does have a nice increase. This is on of the best bang for the buck upgrade for the VQ engine. Can't go wrong with a MD spacer kit. Charles

Do you still have the Berks HFCs and are they compliant in Cali? Will I still be able to pass an emissions test with these??

Berk's aren't CARB legal, so if they really looked, they could fail you. But they'll probably pass the OBD scan and sniffer if you still have that. They shouldn't trip the CEL which is all most emissions test for now.

Thx again for the info Shadow...u really been a great help today :) Question...u think my exhaust will be too loud with the Invidia I have already??
 
That I don't know. I have a custom Invidia (w/ resonated X pipe to cut drone) and have a set of Berks sitting on the shelf for 6 months now because I'm not sure how it will sound. Some people say Berk's don't increase noise too much, others say it's really bad. I'll probably install them soon just to see, but if it's loud my wife will be really annoyed since we already have one obnoxiously loud car. My FX is already sound deadened everywhere except the roof so if it's too loud there's nothing I can do short of pulling the HFC's.

Yeah I wanted the Berks also...but if I can't find those I see the Kinetix on ebay for $380. You think those are just as good?? If you install yours soon, lemme
know about the sound.
 
Im on the same boat. My stock cats are shot. I wana get new cats. I have the invidia exhaust but im nervous on the hfc's making the exhaust to loud and making the drone worse. I seen a member with straight pipes on the invidia and was insanely loud. I have yet to hear an invidia with hfc's.

I believe straight pipes are way louder due to having no cats. I hear the Berks are loud but not too bad....another option are the CNT/ERZ ones. There is also the
Kinetix but they do not have the stock mounting brackets the other two I mentioned have. But any of these will def make the exhaust louder....
 
From everything I've found, CNT's are louder than the others, it may be because they use thinner material. They are the lowest price, so I wouldn't doubt that. Kinetix is supposedly somewhat loud as well. The G/Z guys all seem to prefer Berk to the other 2 brands. I know tchuck pulled his Kinetix due to noise and I want to say Zebra pulled his CNT due to noise. Neither had Invidia though.

No matter how loud an HFC is, it will not compare to a test pipe. The catalyst helps a lot with sound suppression because it's breaking up the sound pulses. Sort of like how turbo's make cars quieter (turbine is breaking up the pulses). HFC's are louder because they're not as thick/heavy as OEM and the catalyst is much freer flowing. Test pipes have nothing to quiet the exhaust; even resonated ones don't do much. I once owned a car w/ turbo, test pipes, and big exhaust. It was unbearable sometimes and embarassing; had to add 2 resonators just so I could drive it.

Yeah I agree...I don't think I would ever go the test pipe route unless I was building a race car. Thx for your input Shadow...think I'm gonna go with the Berks.
Let me know if you install yours anytime soon as it'd be nice to know how it will sound w/ the Invidia. But I'm gonna order them anyway...will have them
on in about a month I'd say.

Just spoke with B2 Autodesigns...they are out of stock until May 2nd...a week from now. He told me to call back then to make sure they have them
ready to go. He said $425 shipped....I looked all over the web and that's the cheapest I could find.
 
I actually will like my exhaust a little louder...been runnin the Invidia for 3 yrs now and I want more grunt...ya feel me lol
