hey i guess the butt-dyno is feeling something eh?

BTW, i just sent in my email to THMotorsports so theyre gonna send me a payment request for a set of Fast Intention Resonated Testpipes...i cant wait to get these in and install them.

So I'm thinking you like your new toy Will =), minus the little vibration and noise. Hope its nothing major and they can fix it quick. Probably a missing gasket.

Just got back from Mikes Muffler - and it took him but 15 minutes to fix it. Looks like the one of the pipes was resting on the cross bar thingy. He fixed it and charged me $25. Now the vibration is gone and the car sounds normal except for when I floor it.

Lost a bit of low end umph....but gained on the top end. Now I just gotta get an appointment with TS and see if they can tune it and get everything working together in harmony for me!

Sounds good Will. Good you got this fixed. That brings me to my FX dilemma. It seems that there is something amiss. This morning on start up the engine shoot a bit and made a bad rattling noise. Going to the dealer today to see if it an issue covered under warranty.

that reminds me... I never got my grinding sound to go away, and I'm up here with my folks... I can get to Mike's like in 15 minutes... I might just have to stop by today... hopefully he's not busy...

How is the midrange power? i heard in some cases you can see yourself with upwards of 20+ TQ increase in the midrange. should push you back in your seat like a 45 :P

Sorry to hear that Doc - any updates? Hope its not serious

I got there at 8am but they dont open til 830 and no one was there. 2 cars came after he was done with me. Should hit him up tomorrow morning first thing. I know he gets kinda busy sometimes and gets backed up.

No complaints whatsoever. Power is good....but like I said earlier my off the line power is down. But it makes up for it in the mid and upper range. The Nismo sounds pretty good with the headers on. No Rasp like I had expected. Nice clean sound, but a tad deeper than with the stock exhaust manifolds. At least now we know strups will work for us.

Hmmm, I was about to pull the trigger on a set of headers....but now I'm not so sure, don't want to loose any power from the low end

so, I went there... they weren't busy... but Mike himself didn't wanna get in my car to hear the problem cuz he's got bad hearing, so I waited like 10 minutes for that other guy... (hispanic, younger... NOT the hippie). Anyway, sure enough... the guy gets in my car and I took the FX around the block and gun'd it off every light, but couldn't replicate the sound:mad:.... I was over it. I'm quite certain now... the sound has something to do with the springs... cuz it only grinds when I gun it and the back side sinks down... but with more people in the car... like today... it's perhaps more balanced(?). I dunno.... I'm over it.... They took a look underneath, and didn't really see anything wrong, anywhere... no rubbing or color fading of any parts...

Hope you can figure it out..

I don't think that it could be the springs... Maybe your wheel set up is rubbing agains your fender, since you think the noise is associated with your springs...?

it's something down there.... I got into the pit and looked for any signs of rubbing (with the help of one of the guys) and we really couldn't find any... I'm kinda over it...

Referring to the Drag at Cal Speedway. Going there on Sat. then possibly to Willow Springs for the Speedventures track day on Sunday.

You still out for both?

i had no idea headers give a loss down low...anyone else with headers care to chime in? i thought they gave good gains, especially TQ low-mid which gives you a nice kick in the pants:confused:

hey will, did they change the note of your nismo exhaust, or just made it louder?

Its a lower tone-

I'm guessing it the headers got rid of some of the back pressure and thus the loss on the bottom end. Thats my guess & someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But the mid & top end really pulls good.

The Rattle came back today - so Im gonna head out to Mikes again. Seems like the pipe is rubbing up against the rear crossmember under load. When I'm idling its ok. but when I give her some gas, the rattle comes.

Update - I got a hold of someone at TS today.....I have an appointment but its not til Mid January, which kinda bummed me out cuz I wanted a tune before Track day.

I feel a little "lag" until it's about 3000 rpms and especially after 3500ish it opens up really good.. It only bothers me when I go half throttle or on a ramp. The oem torque converter gets the car going around 2000-2500 anyways so the 500-1000 rpms in between doesn't really last long.. I think the oem headers are 2.0 - 2.25" in diameter and Strups (as well as Stillens) should be either 2.5" or 2.75". That should be the reason for the low end lag.. Nismo headers take care of that by decreasingly sized tubings.. They should be 2.5" right out of the ports and 2.25" or 2.0" when closer to the flange..

Psiclne's loss should me more as he's using the 3.0" Nismos.. Larger D headers + larger D exhaust = awesome sound + sluggish low end torque.. He should really feel the torque around 4000-4500 I believe. With stock exhaust + headers you should get it around 3000-3500 like I do.. Basically the torque curve should shift 500 rpms per .25 " increase in diameter.. Correct me if I'm wrong..
