Member's other Modded rides

Been really busy with my e36. This week I'm buying a new LSD, short throw shift kit, an m3 lip, and an x-brace. Brought it up to summit point raceway with some of my friends and drifted it at drift nirvana. My friend also brought his 240 and was killin it as well. Fun stuff. Next event is an autoX event in the next couple of weeks. My car disgustingly filthy after, my wheels have a mirror polished lip and they arent exactly clean after the event aha. My car is pretty damn low cause of coilovers and I tapped my side skirt on the inner rumble strip on the skid pad and broke a clip. Fixed it. Goes with the track territory. Some guy wrecked his super clean s2000. Felt bad for him lol. Anxiously waiting for my m3 s52 swap.. Anyway. Here are some iPhone pics.

These mods begin today for the Miata! Pretty excited about them.

All parts in hand.

The first two are just bolt up. I plan on a full weekend for just the roll bar. My wife gave me the Hard Dog Extreme as an anniversary gift back in December. This isn't my car in the photo, but it is the roll bar I'll be installing under my hard top. I'm psyched to get it installed.

The other bolt on are Flyin Miata frame rails. I have some rail deformation so I'll have to bang on them to get them back into shape before the frames go in. These are essentially the same thing as the GTSpec bracing we use under the FX, except these have proven records on countless Miata track cars.

Finally and just for the fun of it I'm going to add a little (more) personal style to the engine bay. I want to expose the cam gears just for engine bay aesthetic. That requires cutting off the front lip of the valve cover like this:

This is a relatively common modification in the Miata community. It provides access to the adjustable aftermarket cam gears but is more for bling.

I have a set of Fidanza cam gears in plain aluminum (lower right above) just to add a little bit of adjustability... but mostly just bling. I'll try to post some progress pictures as things get done.

What you thinkin of picking up JB? Im also thinking of getting something but more like a bike, 600cc range...

no idea. was thinking 240sx or something.... or something crazy like an old jag xj8 and bag and stance it.... not sure to be honest, going to see what the funds are like this summer from work and such. I was looking at older 911 Porsches but people want a premium for them it's rediculous

yeah theyre nice...but idk I kind of want to do something different...I know 240s arent really different but still...idk still thinking about what I want to do

300ZX Turbo, R32 chassis - $3000-5000 for a decent used one. If you find one that is already turbo'd, upgrading the turbos & intercoolers plus a tune is an easy bump in power. I almost did this car instead of the Miata but the Miata was just cheaper to buy, cheaper to find parts for, etc..

If got a nissan it would be a 240sx, but Im not sure if I even want to do that. I kind of want to get something nobody usually gets for a project car do it up in a style nobody with that car usually does...something different....but idk, I have to see how the funds will be in the summer.

I was looking at 240s, still considering...but also looking at older porsches (poeple want too much for them), older jags (would be fun and different...) older bimmers and benzs.... rx7's, even some domestic....im not sure yet what I want to do to be honest.

An awesome sleeper project car is the early 90's Toyota Cressida that shared the 7M-GE straight 6 with the Supra of that year.

Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab

not my style....it is a great sleeper though:biggrin:

I was thinking of an older XJ body jag...we've owned a few including an XJR (which was sweet...twin superchrged v8) so Im looking at one of those, found for around 7-10k....my dad is interested too because he wants something "fun" on the side too...so idk, we may get something "together" (hence the 911's and such0 as opposed to just me going out for a 240..... we'll see what happens
