Low RPM exhaust rattle

I noticed a rattle on my fx as well. I got under and tapped on the exhaust with a rubber mallet in various locations to replicate exhaust vibrations. Turned out to be the gas tank heat shield, so I just bent it a few inches away from the exhaust. No more rattle.
Fun story, right....?

so, opening this again... the 1st month after i got my car (used) i noticed the rattle, low rpm and usually under stress.. took it back to the dealer and the did the temporary clamp fix.. this lasted another month or so in which it startedd rattling again.. so i brought it to my friends shop and had the cat shields taken off.. now it started rattling again so im thinking it could be the y-pipe shields.. im gonna rip those off and see what happens from there... nothing can be more annoying than driving a luxury crossover and having it sound like a ricer civic lol

Mine had a low rpm rattle when cold. It went away when it warmed up. I took all the
shields off and still had the rattling. It turned out to be a loose baffle in the muffler.

I guess i'll have to start looking for a replacement.

Mine got worse over time. You can prob wait a while until it embarrasses you when you are at a stoplight and the cars next to you can hear it. Lol

LOL, what he said. That's about right. Once is loud enough for you to worry about other people thinking your ride has an issue, that's when you HAVE to address it.

Everyone is saying they are taking the heat shields off, but, aren't they there for a reason? I mean, is there any adverse affect with removing them and not putting that protection back in place???

I don't have heat shields on mine and its fine. Most of the time when you buy high flow aftermarket exhaust parts they don't come with heat shields.

Yep, I have a rattle from the middle of the car around 1500 rpm. Is like a buzzing type noise and stops as soon as the motor warms up. Can be pretty annoying at times.

easy way to check it is, power braking if you hear it under the driverside rattling, a loose heat shields, and you can buy a metal hose clamp from local parts store. about 8 inches for the cat and 3 inchees for the Y-pipes.
