Hey, I have been visiting the Scene (but never joined) since 2008 when I purchased my first Black Obsidian FX35. About a month ago I got a 2012 Malbec Black 35 with Premium and DeluxTouring packages. What is interesting about the whole process is that I initially went in with the intention of buying a JX. I had convinced myself that I wanted something bigger and something that didn't force you to concentrate on driving so much. In other words a floatilla. After test driving the JX I was satisfied that it would easily meet my criteria for a passive cruiser, but on the way home while driving my old FX I realized I was fooling myself. The FX is a little cramped and sometimes I wished for a less firm ride but during the ride back from dealer I had to admit I loved the accerlation and handling and I couldn't give that up.
I thought about it for another day, and went back to the dealer with my mind made up that I would get a new 2012 Black Obsidian. While working out the deal, in between breaks I would check out the FX on the showroom floor and finally I had to inquire what color was I looking at; and the sales guy said it was Malbec Black with the Java interior. At the last minute I told the sales guy to change my paperwork and give me the Malbec. The Malbec black is striking and compliments the FX's uniqueness.
Before I got the Gen 2 i always thought the Gen 2's were sleeker and more contempory but overall i didn't think that it was that big of a deal. Now that I own one, I really can appreciate the exterior details that make this car even more of a stand out than the original. And as we all know, there is no contest between the interior of an 05 and a 2012. I will say that I do miss the exhaust note on the old one and like others i do find the tranny on the 2012 a liitle weird.
