License Plate Screw Just Turns and Turns and Won't Come Out

TY for all the info on the well nuts. My dealer put my tag on with huge metal screws and when I took them out one just turned. Had to cut and drill and put a cheap plastic insert in. The well nut will be great.
 
I removed the panel, locking vice grips, and it came out without any issues. Just make sure to put anti-seize before screwing it back in.
 
Wow, I didn't realize this was such a common problem for these cars. We just got our 2007 FX a few weeks ago and when I went to remove the rear plate the screws really didn't want to come out. Thankfully I got them out without breaking them, but you can be damn sure I used my tap and die kit to chase the threads in the hatch to make sure they don't get stuck again in the future!
