KIDO COILOVER STRUT BROKEN-Chedman please advise

been tied up and haven't updated here but I did recieve 2 new rear shocks from kido, got them pretty quick I think... hopefully I'll be able to weld these soon...
 
I just read this whole thread again and SHIT. Pretty sure my rear right one is now broken. I'm in the middle of my vacation in the mountains with snow... not the most opportune time for this to happen. It is making a horrible clunking noise (especially over even the smallest of bumps) and the car isn't stable feeling. Pretty much not drivable with four people weighing it down. Same as OP with no particular incident as the cause, just normal driving. Won't be able to have in looked at for probably another week. Not sure what to do, as using a replacement will probably do the same in time... So frustrating. Very disappointed.

Thoughts?

I'll check it out soon. If this is really what happened, I will be switching out these coilovers for something else. Super frustrating.

As tchuck said, inspect immediately. You can look at it through the wheels since yours are mesh and relatively open. Or better would be to pull the wheel off and see if it's just something loose. Maybe the bolt on the lower mount backed out. I would be really careful driving if your shock is broken. If you drive smoothly, it should be ok. But the shock is basically the only thing other than the weight of the car that keeps the spring seated. So if you were to hit a big dip or bump and your car rebounds up, without the shock there, the spring can unseat.

Figured I'd give an update. My rear right shock is shot. I will be driving my FX again soon, so I took it in to get the shot shock replaced with the one that I had to buy from Kido. Long story short, Kido sent me the incorrect shock (too skinny and too long), so it still isn't fixed. I have been emailing back and forth with Kido for a few days, and they don't even know what part I need. They are asking me for part numbers now, and I have no clue what the rear right shock part number is. Does anybody know?
 
Hmmm, I have order a few replacement shocks from them and haven't been ask for a part number. I really don't know what is the part number. I have been tell them it is for an Infiniti FX35/FX45. There one time they have ask for the serial number off the bottom of the shock. Here is a serial number from one of my shock. That should help.

That is the serial number from one of the rear shocks, correct? If so, I'll send him that and see what he says. I haven't heard back from the company in a few days.

Brennan, I don't know what kind of shape your rears are in, but you might want to look at replacement rings as well. You might not have the corrosion issues that we have here is the midwest, but on both mine and Andy's we had seized rings when we tried to replace. Better safe than sorry and save on the shipping.

Also, you should probably just plan on replacing both rear shocks at the same time.
