Jumbo's Silver FX - 2nd custom build

Lol that would've been a sight to see, the FX is already an odd car to see roll up to the grid let alone on mismatched wheels like that.

Then she blows the doors off like half the cars at the track...

I posted the actual timeslip in the 1/4 mile time thread. The first run with no launch tuning was a 12.88. With the data from that night the shop made a couple tweaks. I can't imagine those tweaks gain much more than a half second - if that. Unless I lose some major weight or upgrade the transmission (again) I don't think this will be an 11 second car. And let's be clear - I'm thrilled with it. Totally happy with the improvements over the last attempt with a very similar parts list. The dyno showed 442whp to the rear wheels. The 1/4 mile trap speed was 12.882 at 108mph

The differences between this car and Big Red are already evident but one of the biggest improvements yet to come might just be the wheels. If I can get significantly lighter wheels, that adds to the already lighter carbon fiber driveshaft and lightweight pulleys for improved engine response. I'm REALLY looking forward to spending the road trip with my FX - getting to know her again after 18 months. Just cruising with some tunes and the top open for miles and miles.

If I can make the trip in two days, I'll be bringing the FX to supercar sunday this weekend. Can't wait to pop the hood in front of some enthusiasts for the first time!!! And you can be sure I'll be wearing my new "grocery getter" t-shirt.

Hahaha LOL have fun buddy.....enjoy the ride. I'll be finally tackling my clutch again after a few months pause so hope to enjoy it again soon also. Btw what hp numbers are you running ?? Don't bet to much on forged 3piece wheels for being light...... if you want to score more best route IMO to go forged one piece performance wheels.....even when i Love..... 3 piece wheels.
Very eager to hear about your new drivetrain setup and how the new driveshaft is feeling.

Keep us posted !!

She's home! 22 hours split into two days. First 500 were all rain.

Gave her a quick bath so I can show her off at super car Sunday tomorrow.

That last pic is epic. You must be over the moon getting her back.

Well I guess you could say we are still getting to know each other. I'm still a little tentative and gun shy- Wide open throttle is seriously scary. But I've always loved the look of the FX and I smile each time I walk up to her, no matter how long or short the drive might be. I've been daily driving her to work, less than two miles from my house. I have downloaded all the ECU software on a laptop and have a remote session with the tuner scheduled for Saturday. We hook up to the ECU set some monitors and go for a drive. He can tweak the tune remotely on the laptop using my phone as a hotspot. Says they support some race cars real time this way. Anyway if anything needs attention we will see it then.

I have enjoyed the one wash and one wipe down. Looking forward to getting a clay and Polish knocked out this weekend.

Love it! And it's time to get more meat on the rear. As you are right now, those stock wheels are no match for the motor

I would almost say go staggered. You might get better control that way. Things a beast.
And if you do, a staggered set of GTR's is quite easy to find

Damn it GTO you are NOT helping.

Your square setup is the look I want. Two sets of rear GTR wheels is the ticket I'm convinced now that I have seen it in person. The ONLY two things I need to do is decide what color I want and what rubber. Think I have to stick with a 50 or 55 height if it is available. Yours are a little too low profile for my performance wants and needs and I definitely don't want to go any lower.

I guess I also need to decide if I'll just buy them new or actually take the time to find two used sets. Seems like a lot of work.

What is the going rate on these second hand ir hard to find.....cuz i would think 2 used sets would be just as expensive as 1 new. Unless someone would be in the market for 4 fronts.

I would be in the market for 4 front wheels. I miss my old GTR's, and I need something to wrap new winter rubber around. Maybe we can work something out Jumbo, let me know if you are interested.

Im definitely interested. Let's both start looking. If we can each come up with a set, we could trade fronts & rears? The 2009 spoke design looks great - don't know much about the options. Better start edumacating myself.

Yes I prefer the design of the earlier wheels as opposed to the new premium and black edition versions.

Basically I am looking for the same wheels as gto.

I am a member on NAGTROC, and they pop up on there pretty often, usually they are located in your area or miami. So this could work on nicely. PM me your email and we can work something out.

I found two sets which I believe are both still available, they are the light coloured winter package wheels though:

Set #1: http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/108463-oem-wheels-tires-and-tps-sensors-with-center-caps/

Set #2: http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/109785-fs-2009-oem-wheels-tpms-center-caps-800/

Curbing on the 2nd set has me a little worried, can't tell from the picture, but it looks like the lip is bent?

Either way with a little negotiating (like not including the tires on the 1st set), might be able to snag both sets for 2500 bucks.

12.8 on a first run?! Daaaaang. That's awesome. Congrats, Brad. Must be nice to be back in the saddle after all this time.

Thanks! Yeah man it is nice. Like getting a new car but more familiar!

Yesterday was Nissan Marque day at Supercar Sunday so I had to bring her out.

Brad so what tranny set-up do you have now...?? And how is that working for you...?? Also do you feek any gain in the driveshaft......??

Now with my Manual tranny i kinda have the idea my driveshaft is to heavy and it wobbles/trembles. I gues the drive charistics from auto and manual are different
and the OEM FX shaft isn't working that well with this new set-up but am trying to do my homework first before dyving into this again.

Also i'm looking at the rear driveshafts towards the wheel......i'm maxed out with my BC set-up and think the driveshaft don't like it that much in that angle. We had a similar issue with a mini cooper S with coils on it as well....trembling when launching.
