Jumbo wheels

No experience with them. A lot of the bimmer/audi guys run them without any issue. I was looking at a set of those before I picked up the HREs for my old Z4, so I would purchase them.

I really like those DPE wheels! Funny, there's a "laser red" GTI near me with huge solid chrome wheels. It's a little extravagant for my taste. I think yours would look great with the DPEs.

Am I the only one with a mute button?

The saga continues.

Had a long chat with Turbo about wheel fitment. The short version of our conversation was that I need to be sure about my ride height before going for wheels with custom offsets.

I'm already lowered on Eibachs, but have been thinking about coil-overs. Turbo's thinking was that the coil-overs are probably not worth it if I'm not trying to lower the FX any further. I want my wheels flush - not tucked. So I really need clearance above the tires so I can push them all the way out to the fenders. Turbo suggested I go with 7mm more than his up front and 10mm more in the rear if I did NOT plan on lowering more than currently. I rounded the offsets to 40mm and 60mm (+8mm and +12mm over Turbo's set-up) to go just a touch more agressive.

I'm currently sitting on these theoretical sizes.

Front: 265/40/22 22x9.5 +40
Rear: 305/35/22 22x11 +60

Just saw Panzer's iForged Seneka's which were on my list. They look nice. I'd get those or the Essen's depending on any weight differences...

Not sure about the rears but I'm running 265/40/22 X 9" width on rim w/15+ offsets all the way around with H&r drop with no issues at all and they are flush. Since your looking at 9.5 width in the front you should be perfect with +25 offset on the fronts.

you have it backwards, for example my rears are +48, meaning there set in 48mm from exactly centered... to stick out 10mm more you would change the +48 to +38, subtracting the 10mm, so now the wheels will only be in 38mm less than perfectly centered... a +60 will just about hit the suspension & not work at all, that's 12mm in more than mine...

Ok good, I was going to say. Usually the lower the number the more it sticks out. Usually around +20 is what people are near, but as is with your setup, that changes with a wider wheel.

that is the best calculator out there, I put a link to it somewhere else before... it gives a nice visual representation, you could even overlay them in photoshop to see differences...

Did you compare it to your OEM setup to check clearance?

Not exactly - but yes. Let me 'splain.

OEM tire diameter is 30.4" and I purposefully sized these tires to get as close to that OEM diameter as possible. The rear is spot on and the front is 2mm smaller (not an issue with my RWD). Since I have no plans to go lower, I could actually go up a bit in size to fill in the tire gap. Nothing crazy - just subtle cues.

It seems I am picking tires that are more wide than I really need. That equals sidewall bulge. The one I have specified above is not easy to find, nor is it cheap.

I tweaked the calculator to give me a slightly raked stance - 31.04 in the front, 31.29 in the back. The tires are sized for a range of wheel diameters and I made sure these tires were sized on the small end for both front and back fitments. This will give a sharper profile and less sidewall bulge since I purposefully picked taller tires.

New sizes are:

295/40/22
255/45/22

A buddy of mine is good friends with the DPE guys. He can get pretty decent prices, not sure how they'd compare to the GD. But he's been running DPE's for probably 6 years now and has gone through a lot of sets. From everything I've seen, they're incredible wheels and I've been considering them as well.

This thread won't die till it's completed!

Looking into prices for these:

http://www.dpe-wheels.com/index2.htm

Signature series, S-20
Black face, chrome lip
28 - 30 lbs

rear 22x11
front 22x9.5

There's a group buy going on at my350Z forum and was thinking about joining up. Anybody have experience with DPE?

Priced out the DPE wheels I was interested in at $5100. The group buy reduced that, but I didn't bite and the GB is over now.

The iForged of a similar looking design is $3800. The rubber I'm looking at will be close to $1500, so I like iForged's price.

Think I finally figured out the tires. Lots of calculators and I even used a spreadsheet. heh.

Front 265/40/22, overall diameter of 30.35 (0.05" smaller than OEM)
Rear 285/40/22, overall diameter of 30.98 (0.58" larger than OEM)

Found Falken Ziex & Yokohama Parada Spec-X in the proper sizes - both staggered options are under $200 per tire.

Trying to decide on wheel colors. Today I'm leaning toward gloss black spokes and a polished lip - Panzer74 just installed the iForged Seneka in 22" and I LOVE that wheel. It's gotta flow with the rest of the car tho.
