Jumbo wheels

The HRE ones are hot - love the 7 spoke look.
I'd get those in black (if i wasnt on a budget)

Still kicking around the idea of wheels, but now I'm looking much harder. I decided if I'm going to get wheels, they might as well be custom for the perfect fit without spacers. Have no problem with going staggered. 22x10 in the back 22x8.5 or 9 in the front, but willing to listen to pros and cons about that. Also not against rolling the fender if that's what it takes, but thinking with a custom set-up that shouldn't be necessary.

1) Need spoke clearance for BBK (7mm spacers minimum work on OEM wheels)
2) Want the wheel all the way up to the fender (25mm spacers work on OEM wheels)
3) Biggest lip possible with the above limits

If I were ordering custom Infiniti wheels, I would need to order (+38-25 spacer = 13mm offset). This would get the wheels out wider to the fenders.

BUT - I need the spokes to clear the caliper, so I would still need a spacer - (7mm spacer + 20mm wheel offset = BBK clearance AND wheels to fenders). This is what I am trying to avoid - using spacers at all. How do I know if the spokes of any wheel will clear my BBK, even if I am sure about the offset?

If you are going to have custom wheels built then all you have to do is give then the specs you want and tell them you need clearence for the BBK you have and you should be fine. That's what I did. When I had my iforged built I told them I wanted clearence for the 8 pot rotora BBK specs.
But the max lip size you want might be limited with these considerations of offset, wheel width and BBK.

That's a good comment, because I'm already talking to iForged.

Looking at the Flux:

They have an order form that asks for size, style, offset - but I don't see HOW they account for a BBK. Also, they don't list weights. I'm not interested if they are not lighter than my stockers - my requirement is 35 lbs or less. Lip size will be what it is based on everything else. Not much I can do about that. Guess these are things I can hammer out with a rep once I decide to pull the trigger.

How much did you spend for the custom set, doc? Sorry if I didn't search it first!

I spent approx. 4k about 3 years ago. PM humberto for more details on the iforged. He may be able to put you in direct contact with iforged.

I guess I had it easy. I sent my big brake kit specifications and caliper template to tirerack.com and asked if they would work on the wheels I had narrowed it down to.

Tirerack.com has all the measurements so it was only a few hours turnaround time in my scenario. They are very exact too, they told me another wheel I was looking at, I would need a 7 mm spacer and another needed 3 mm spacer.

So now, I have 22x9.5 forged wheels and 20x10 cast wheels (for winter) that both clear my front and rear big brake kit without spacers. Spare tire? I have a 25 mm bolt-on type spacer that also lets me use my space saver spare tire.

I was nervous to see if tirerack did do all the right measurements, but once I got the wheels and the big brake kit, everything cleared as they said so I have complete faith in them.

Tirerack has some nice three piece forged wheels that are around $1,000+ a piece. Out of my budget, I bought clearance wheels=) If you're interested in Axis Wheels, I talked to them and they have several spoke designs specifically made to give the most clearance for big brake kits – they were made for 350z's and G35's but same hub diameter as our FX's.

Hahah, I remember when you figured out getting your 7 mm spacer, you are very precise!

As you already know, offset and wheel width can be totally thrown off by spoke design. Which is why I was worried about the wheel I got, 22x9.5 +36 mm offset. Not aggressive, yet easily clears most big brake kits.

I think you really just need to either get the specs yourself or have them test it out. In terms of aggressive offsets, I loved my 22x9 +15 mm offset. Those were flush with the fenders and no rub on a 265/40/22 tire w/ H&R Springs.

GL, I like your wheel choice so far.

It seems like Tire Rack isnt as good as it used to be for some reason. I dunno might just be me but they dont have a good selection of FX stuff

Well it's been a while since I visited my wheel situation. I still like the iForged idea and know I could get exactly the right fit, but I'm not liking the cost. So hard to justify $4K for wheels when the ones I have are just fine. Justify to my wife, that is. Heh.

If I can find lightweight wheels I like that fit properly, then there's no need for the custom order. Trying to iron some of that out now.

My current favorites are 22" TSW Snettertons in hyper silver or chrome.

I know it's a departure from the other spoke styles I have been looking at, but the look of these have really grown on me each time I see them and I think they would look sick in the 22" size with a nice lip. They are offered in a staggered setup as well, but I'm not sure if I'd go that route. I like the idea of being able to rotate all four tires to any position I want. Gives me a little more room for prolonging tire life.

Hey Jumbo, if you can convince her then do it! Because I went through what you are debating about and in the end I did regret not going with my first choice.
