jimwolf TT vs. Stillen S/C

& bro, after so many months, what makes yiou think he still has that used tt setup & the brakes just laying around anyway? that's the kind of thing you have to jump on when you find it cause it's rare to find something like that & chances are someone else may have already jumped on it, he has so many g's & z's go through there... plus, was the bbk for the fx specifically? he may think there the same as a g or z? odd that he'd even wind up with a used fx bbk setup...

oh yeah and the reason it's 8K for me is because the proginal deal he gave me was a used TT with 1000 miles on it plus BBK....usually would be around 12K....forgot to mention that.

but what happened was he sold the kit to someone else, so im getting a new one for the same deal.
turbo!!!! i would imagine you read the whole thread a bajilion times.....kidding!

yeah he's giving my a new one and i think that the BBK is rotora or apracing.....yea

i sent him an email to ask if he ca specifically list wha he's gonna do...we'll see how tha turns up...

oh, missed that. man, he must really like you, what's he got an ugly daughter he's trying to pawn off on you or something:tongue:

so your talking a new jwtt setup installed & a used bbk for 8k? pretty sweeet, specially since he told me closer to 9k for just the tt...., then eventually came down closer to the 8k...

personaly, with restraint, I wouldn't dismiss the jwtt as less reliable to be honest, yeah, there are more potential problem areas, but not to the point of being unreliable if installed well.

also, since were on the subject, before thinking about the stillen sc, you really HAVE to hear one, in person, to make sure you can live with what it sounds like.... it is very very loud to say the least, the jwtt is probably worth the extra $$$ just for what it sounds like over the stillen:tongue:

Try this. The NOISE you here is does not do justice, since it's been taken with a camera phone.

You guys need to remember something. Our brain has a function that remembers the best of everything and then compares it to the rest. If you remember your childhood, when there were no Answering machines, the phone would ring like 8 times before you'd give up and hang up. Now adays, if the phone rings 3 times and the party does not pickup, we automatically assume that they're not going to pickup. This is the function of that part of our brain.

Anything we do to our cars that makes it a hair faster would be recorded by our brain and oncer there, it's going to be normal again. It's basically good for a few weeks and then you'd want more. So it does not matter if you start with a SC and go to TT. Once you get there you'd want more. So start low, then slowly burn your money.

Take it from someone who just added a SC. IT'S NEVER ENOUGH, until you're broke or you blow the engine.

If you're thinking that you'd spend $12K and you'd be speed racer, it'll never going to happen. There is always faster, better, and cooler out there and until you have it, you're not it.

I'd say, save your money, sell your car, put the $12K and the rest of the money you're going to spend, and buy a WRX STi. Otherwise, just drive the FX for what it is.

Personally, I think $6000K plus that I spent for Less than 100 whp. was wasted. Knowing I can take any stock G/Z, Priceless.
The other day I passed a Brand New Shelby Mustang. The guy was riding my azz for 5 miles trying to get ahead of me. I had enough under the hood to get me by. There was not win or lose, and he would have eaten me alive if there were no other cars around. So unless you live on race track and do 1/4 Miles all day long, the SC is enough for the daily driver.

Just be very carefull with Stillen. Stillen does not play nice if you buy it used.
I've made the same mistake and my FX is still in the shop after almost a week. Each Blower has a "DJ" serial number on the side. Once it's purchased, the number is registered. If and when you need parts or upgrades, they will refuse to sell you ANYTHING unless you're the original owner. I had to sign a waiver for them to sell me a pulley after writing a long email to the GM. According to Performance Nissan (mynismo.com) even when you try to upgrade from stage 2 to 3 (only a $89 pulley,) they'll ask the dealer to provide them with S/N.

Also, if you're going used, Make sure every single nut, bolt, belt, etc. are there. If not, you will not get much help out of stillen if you need info. The parts list has exactly a 100 parts. But it includes parts that are already assembled, so you never know. Today we needed info on a blower belt size and they would not give it to us. I had a question about the Pulley color, which the guys here answered for me in a few min., but stillen would not even give me that.

Buyer beware.

My 2 cents; go with the TT. It's also a LOT quieter than a SC. If you want SC, also take a look at HKS. Good luck

thx for the input gents. but aren't SC more reliable and maintenance free. i can only assume TT are more complicated...but then, i'm no expert.

I didn't read the whole thread, but if I had my FX and were to do it all over again
my choice would be Stillen S/C with that comes with warranty, intoxicating charger noise, still makes the FX reliably fast fast SUV, unless you are going to mod the FX like one that rookie has which outperforms many so-called sports cars out there. I decided to part out not because of that my tranny blew but also BMW 335i with $700 ecu tweak kicked my near $20000 TT setup LOL I am not saying JWTT wasn't worth it, it was definitely worth and made my FX really really fast, but what I am saying is I think I should have been pretty happy with Stillen S/C Stage 2 if I have never seen/heard of the JWT TT. Get the Stillen and pretend like JWT don't exsist LOL

P.S. Trust me...once you go TT you will want more and more power...what are you going to do then? :)
