Jbaker1121's FX35 updates and photo thread

this may as well be my update thread....

the e55's arent going well....cant find one for a decent mileagge price ratio and the warranties are dried up....benz's are just too pricey.
after some rethinking and evaluating my financial situation, I think im going to start looking at 08 b7 adi a4 2.0t quattros. They have a lot of potential and ill still have a warranty, plus they go all day for 25k with <30k miles, and AWD :)
of course I already evaluated modding abilities...about 4k in mods will get me 300+hp to the wheels, low 12's 1/4 mile, without touching the stock turbo. I dont want to do anything too crazy, but a nice black/black murdered a4 with sline accents, a nice BOV woosh and balls to back up the cutsie a4 look, I think it may be a car for me to look into. I dont want to get stuck with a pricey benz with no warranty, or stuck with payments on a brand new car. I already looked up a4s at local dealers and they're a dime a dozen for what I want, so I think that may be it.....
what do you guys think? Infinitis may be a bit pricey for me for brand new ones right now as well.......

any ideas for a quick, luxury car in this $25k range with midding capabilities that wont kill my bankroll?

Why not get a G37 coupe or sedan? Stock 330HP! I've seen used 08's going for less than $29K with super low miles. And many many many many mods available. Plus less of a headache when the warranty is done unlike German's. G37's are super reliable and mod friendly.

idk man tbh Im not really feeling the g37s any more.... im kind of into the dub scene i've been into sedans and bags and stuff for the past few months....and my fx has been having a few problems that I dont want to turn into headaches. Idk man its kind of like the flavor of the month you knw what I mean....but if I get a good deal then thatrs the car. Ill be calling my infiniti dealer on LI to see what they can do, if not, idk man maybe its time for a german:eek.:

With 25k bro , get a used 06 ranger rover sport , Audi a6 , bmw 335,...... a lot of good used cars you can get for 25k

yeah but I want low miles and a warranty, not just a good car I knoe I cvan get a benz, beamer, ranger, lexus for 25k but I want low miles, newer car and a warranty. RRS is slow, a6's will have a lot of miles, same with bimmers

I have an 05 fx35 and my freind has a RRS hse not the superchared and it goes the same if not faster, you can get an a6 40> miles on it for 20-25k range, gettin used benz's are lame unless your gna buy a $40,000+ benz same goes with beamers, get a range bro fix it up like your FX, you got good taste , and yah dont get another infiniti unless you gettin an Fx 50 lol

I want a fast car thats the problem...RRS are not that fast man even with the SC, and I cant get one with decent miles and a warranty for that price....
im already looking up a4 possibilities..... :confused.:

not really feeling infinitis man idk why...im on a german kick haha

Then you should probably be on a german forum. I have many friends that have had used german cars and they are sick of repair costs. I don't think you'll get lots of recommendations from your friends on getting a car that you will have repair issues with....mistake #1. One buddy had so many issues with his benz after fixing every month or other month he gave up and just left it in the garage cause he couldn't afford the repairs. Another has a bimmer and I was in the car and asked...what does this button do....oh it doesn't work right now....well what does this button do....oh that button I pressed and got stuck and haven't fixed it....lol.

I was like you I had a set amount I was willing to pay and knew what I wanted before I test drove cars or who gave me the best deal...that is the biggest mistake you can make #2.

GO TEST DRIVE. My wife and I talked and wanted Audi for 2+ years. We test drove for 15 minutes and couldn't believe they wanted that kind of money for that. We realized it was all image and the LEDs that we fell for, but hated the ride.

I test drove so many SUVs and cars when I was car shopping for hours and hours....then after the Infiniti test drive I said this is it....that's it. If I can't afford it here, I'll find another place I can afford it, or with more miles, or blah....

I have one buddy that has a 1 year old range rover...he does well...I asked him last time we hung out we talk about cars....he said "this time" the suspension has gone out. Dealer wants $1,500 for it. It no longer goes up and down depending on speed, if you are stopped, etc. He says he's going to get rid of it. I haven't heard horror stories on audi reliability except for their motors, but bimmer/benz/range rover are like tiking time bombs. Audi I just started not liking because they are so overrated right now. The problem is that they got so much attention from their redesign and LEDs and they increased their marketing in the USA multiple times that the costs of those cars right now are at the highest and you are paying WAY MORE for what you get....that's the problem. It's like the housing bubble....well there is an Audi bubble right now.

I agree with everything you're saying man.....After the snow clears tomorrow im going two towns over to check these two out

I prefer the 2nd one with 23k miles and the silver trim, I hate wood trim.
And ill be heading to my boys garage to strip parts off the FX if the numbers at the dealer sound good for me..... I do go to school on friday though so idk If I want to rush....

my fam has always loved benz's and has never had a problem, but hear stories about RR, BMW, Jags, etc...and thats why I want a warranty, so I have that assurance atleast, and a newer car with lower miles so less wear to worry about...

My B6 A4 has been quite reliable overall with the exception of ignition coils. I've probably gone through 6 or so in the past three years, every one of which was replaced by audi under a factory extended warranty (not a purchased extended warranty). One area where Audi really shines is in their customer service. While under warranty we literally never paid a dime for anything. Not oil changes, not spark plugs, not scheduled maintenance, loaner cars, nothing. Every so often I get a notice in the mail explaining how Audi is extending a particular portion of the original warranty and that I should bring it in so they can check it out. Depending on the issue (one I ignored was for leaky sunroofs) I may or may not actually bring it in but when I do they always take care of everything sans questions. Like I said, I don't know how many coils I've gone through but I do know how much I've paid for them; $0.00. I won't make this an Audi/Infiniti comparison but suffice it to say I would not hesitate for a second to purchase another Audi provided I was satisfied by the test drive. It (S4 wagon) is literally the only thing I would consider as an FX replacement. Owning an A4 for a few years now, I find JDTrader's assesment of the new one downright shocking. Not wrong (I haven't driven the new model), just hard for me to believe. My experience has been fantastic and I would HIGHLY recommend the A4 to anyone. Be sure you test drive multiple trim levels as well because they vary greatly. (FWD, AWD, normal-sport-S line, wheel/tire options, etc...) I'd also recommend you consider the B6 body style. The 1.8TQM sedan is a mean little ride with 400+awhp potential all day long. There's also the V8 S4 sedan if you really want to get yourself into some trouble....
Also, audizine is a great forum. It's no :iS:, but it's my favorite Audi forum.

Jbaker when u go and test drive, let us know what you think afterwards. Just please test drive more than one car

^ we were shocked at how we felt probably just as much as you. Right before we test drove it, we had test drove the new jeep and that felt like a much nicer more comfortable ride and it was the base model. Even the steering wheel on the jeep was more luxurious than the Audi. The Audi we test drove was a base a4. You guys got to test drive what's out on the market these days yourself because cars change.

If the Audi sticker was $20k less than I wouldn't have been shocked. Once seeing how much they wanted after that test drive it was not appealing. As far as comfort, the armrests felt like I was driving in my friends Mazda because on the my driver side left arm couldn't keep rested up by the window it was so slim. The mustang has a lot more armrest believe it or not. Also when I moved the seat back to be comfortable. My wife couldn't put her purse behind my seat. Nobody would be able to sit in the back seat after I got comfortable in the front. I am almost 6 foot. I drove a mustang for almost 10 years and was a little more comfortable in that. Sure I had the seats back all the way in that car but it's a sports car 2 door not a sedan 4 door a4. If i want to be cramed or not have the room, id rather just have a dedicated sports car. I think the other issue as my wife put it thought that when we would test drive an audi would think that it was like heaven and unlike any other car because of all the hype and i think just disappointed because our expectations were so very high. We test drove the new Buick regal right after that that everybody talks about. And I was comfy in the front and in the back of me someone can sit just fine and car size appeared the same. That's what I mean. The rest was pretty good but I had some issues. Then I went to Infiniti and it was history be after the test drive. Test Drove lots of other cars too.

yeah man besides one dealer infiniti service has just been so-so, im looking for an Sline b7, I like the b6s but they look too dated now, with the b7s still hanging in there looks-wise. I was looking at the S4s but prices for the mileage they are asking is high...

yeah I know what you mean, audi interiors never really popped to me.... I think im going to look at two today...

Jordan buddy haha. I like the idea of Audi. And the Benz. But you know I'm a bimmer boy. All I'm gonna say is... Please get manual. :)

Sent from my iPhone

haha yeah I want manual, but the driving I do in city, LIE traffic, daily traffic, all my buds with stick DDs hate driving stick all day, I have a friend with the 2010-11 s4 and he wishes he got auto. I would love a stick car, but not as a DD

You're gonna even consider an auto tranny??
Nooooooo!!

yeah Im lame I know:tonguey:

How bout an e36 m3? My take on German cars is they're crap. Mynbro just bought a used 06 e550 and the thing hasn't stopped giving him problems. Pass seat not working, trunk won't open, headlight is out (again) etc. STAY AWAY FROM GERMAN is my recommendation. But.... It's your choice

Sorry I meant e46
