Jbaker1121's FX35 updates and photo thread

Do what I do and sell yourself :-)

^^^ Wasn't there a recall due to e coli contamination earlier this year ?

LMFAO:laugh:

but seriously...I need to wait hahah:tonguey:
LEDs coming in, workoin gn fixing my fogs, went to do some local research on aftermarket fog lights and found a few possible applications...but both stores have a no return policy so im SOL if they dont fit right....

Im gonna have VTR do some simple tranny stuff like the transgo whens its warmer out and I feel like driving 3 hours home
I will order the oil catch next week probably after I figure out which one I need and the hosing.....

Since Technosquare is down for the count....I just called up Vinny ten and with teir new AWD dyno they may be able to figure something out for tuning on my car....A little better than mailing my ECU to CAli, these guys are local....

Now I have someone to install my coils, too hahahah and the Transgo perhaps...
I just need to wait till the summer for more disposable income

Yoo, let me know what Vinny Ten can do because I need to get my car tuned as well. Also, if they can tune it, let me know when you go, mini tune meet haha

soooo look what was in my mailbox today
IMG01085-20110201-1102.jpg
02 sensor spacers for my HFCs

and LEDs for the interior Dome lights....
IMG01084-20110201-1101.jpg
They are the cheap ones, cost me $7.99 shipping included for all 4 hahah if they blow I'll go get the good ones......
I have LEDS for the plate lights on the way as well, should be here tomorrow. after my second class today I'll throw in the Dome lights and go to Monroe Mufflers to throw on the 02 sensor spacers quickly (I have no tools at school...left them at home)
So those should all be out of the way....
that brings the to-do list to:

-fix my damn FOGLIGHTS/ PIAA/HELLA driving lights (SOON)
-Paint 1 caliper to match the rest (black)
-Coilovers
-Dash TSB/relocate iPOD screen?
-Black headliner.
-Vinny Ten Tune (waiting a call-back)
-Transgo Shift kit
- SAIKO custom Oil Catch can (as per JUMBO specs) (SOON)

What do you plan on doing for the black headliner? That is something I want to do as well. I don't need anything fancy like alcantara. I wonder how easy it would be to do via DIY. I would be happy OEM black headliner lol.

Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhhh. Man that OCC went through some serious R&D. Glad you'll be taking advantage of all that hard work. For the price I think it's awesome.

For you, it SHOULD be transparent in it's operation. You'll hook the thing up, set and forget and around each oil change, open the drain and see how much comes out. Based on your setup, you might be able to empty it every other oil change, or even less (or more) frequently. I caught a TON after four months:

Personally, I'm glad all of that did NOT get sucked back through the plenum to be burned in the cylinders. Is this amount normal? Maybe not. It could be that I was starting to have some motor issues around the 110,000 mile mark. That motor is now gone (core swap for the built longblock) so I'll never know if there was a deeper issue. YOU can send a sample of whatever you catch to a lab for 25 bucks (Blackstone Labs) and they will tell you exactly what it is and where it is coming from.

I'm excited for you. This is a killer product. You have finish options too, I think. You decided yet?

Mikefx went to a place that charged him 950 for full suede including fold down mirrors and coloring the plastic parts. I may do this, or do a DIY, which may be more of a PIA than I would really want. I still have to see, that wont happen until the summer anyways.
Nice, post some pics when installed!
Of which one? haha there will be pics tonight of the lights and 02 sensor spacer, dont worry.

yea I just PMd you back, I need to check on their site for finish options. My motors approaching 80k, so hopefully my caught oil doesnt show any issues. I have synthetic now, so I'll probably just drain it at every oil change; I still try to stay under 5k for oil changes, even with synthetic: usually around 3500-4000k. I'll probably order this either this week or next, after consulting you further regarding where each tube goes, size and legnth of tubing I need, etc. I'll be going to my friends local shop to use their tools, but will be doing it myself (I have no tools at school) so I want to get all the info I wold need beforehand for a smooth DIY :) Thanks for the R&D jumbo! haha

so, I installed the LEDs on the interior annd plate lights today, But Im having a weird problem with the interior LED lights...
when I have the Dome lights on "AUTO/DOOR" mode, where they usually turn on when a door opens and otherwise stay off.... the lights stay slightly illuminated when they should be off. If I turn them on manually or open a door, they shine bright and work well, but when they should be off, they stay lightly glowing....When I shut them off manually or the car is off, they shut off...
Here's a pic I tried to take with my blackberry:

when they should be "off" in DOOR mode:
IMG01087-20110201-1733.jpg
When they are turned on by clicking them manually, or when a door is opened while in door mode, if they are turned off manually, they dont turn on when a door is opened:

Weird, right? Anybody have any Ideas? Is it because these are cheap-o ones from Autozone? Should I get the oznium ones instead?
I spoke to turbo and he was saying it may be the capicitor or the dimmer for the lights causing it to happen because of the low energy of the LEDs... so weird...

Otherwise, for $4.99 lights for the 4, they are pretty decent with a decent light output, and a white color with a tinge of blue (camera makes it look more blue)

I need to buy two more for above the doors, and another one for the trunk so they all match.

Looks like a problem with the LED bulbs. Probably cause their cheap lol. Save some headaches and get Vleds! Lol

I didn't even know Autozone sells them.

Yeah it wasnt autozone, just an equal auto store. I may just do the oznium or hit up autoluminatior or VLEDs instead...these arent even that bright; I still have to go int he dark (now) to see how bright they actually are...

Maybe it glows in dark as an extra feature lol :tongue (2):
haha maybe.....:confused.:

Got mine from there and it does the same thing; it wasn't cheap.. seems like there's a current draw..

Spoke to VinnyTenRacing, after a week the only news they have for me is that there is nothing available for the FX35 tuning wise besides Uprev Osiris...which I already knew. They are "getting back to me" with what they can do.

In the meantime, I called Performance Motorsport in Smithtown, NY (long island) who is an authorized Uprev tuner/seller. They said they probably already have my code cracked for my ECu, and they would be able to tune it on their AWD dyno.
the cost? I would need to drive down once for them to take down my ECU information to send out to make sure they have the codes, which can take up to two weeks if they dont have it already.
After that, the due a full Pro tune on the dyno, 3-4 hours $600 including two maps; custom tune and Valet. After that, its $150 for another map (say, you want a meth tune etc.)
They told me if I get 2 other people, the price is lowered to $550 and if I get 5 people the price is lowered to $500 for the same service. So, this may just be where I will be going for my tune. I'll search them on some forums for reviews.
haha the guy recognized my name from G35nyc:smug:

so anyway, thats good news.... and maybe when I down for them to get my codes, I'll have them install the Coil overs.........

looks like I have a plan for now.... with decent pricing.

I thought your ecu had already been to TS. What did you add that you need the tune, or are you just looking for one on a dyno. Maybe I'm not following you close enough

Looking for an on-dyno custom tune is the main reason.
I also added a few bolt ons since the TS including Y-pipe, TBS, played around with exhaust setup. I just think an on-tune dyno will be a lot more beneficial than a mail-in one and it can be tweak on the dyno to get the best numbers, and not a get-what-you-get tune, know what I mean?
I also want to hit a dyno again with the new ypipe, non-leaking exhaust, and my lighter GTR wheels to see the results pre and post tune via Uprev To get updated numbers.
I also may be interested in a certain power adder that needs to be dyno tuned, and with Osiris you can do multiple maps that can be switched..... so thats my reasoning.
They can also handle the install of my Coils and Transgo kit.

OK. I cant imagine the gains are going to be that great, but I'm sure the A/F will need adjsmnt with that TBS addition. A bit pricey for a few ponys, but if it satisfies, then go for it.

Yeah, Im not saying there will be huge gains but I want my AF corrected and to make sure Im getting the most out of my setup, with a smooth Hp/TQ curve.
