Jbaker1121's FX35 updates and photo thread

should have some nice pics to post after we detail the truck lol. see you like what, next week!

yup the 26th the day before the meet

Are those stillen or kinetix HFCs? I just put on Kinetix HFCs with non-foulers! They are awesome for the price! Great sound...not obnoxious....butt dyno likes em and no CEL at all! Did it in two-hrs in my garage with an injured hand. One of my favorite mods so far.

Kinetix ;)

Finally, Jordan! Been waiting for the write up before I pull the trigger on mine. Still looking at some Berks.

The ones you posted - used?

I opted for these kinetix after I heard them on my firend's gsedan....they sound nice! vid will be up tonight.....
and they were used for a 2 hour drive then taken off because they were too loud with the stillen gen2 exhaust....so I sniped em for about 100 less than brand new... they are basically brand new....

i'll post up a write up in a bit

---------- Post added at 08:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:05 PM ----------

so yeah....guy posted them for sale on g35nyc.com said he put them on, drove for a few hours, and took it off ecause with the stillen gen2 exhaust it is way too loud for him....so there are barely any miles on them....so i picked them up for $315. The guy lived 15 minutes away so i picked them up, drove back to my area, and headed straight for the local muffler shop that did my friend's full custom exhaust on his G37s

so first, we have the new cats
KINETIX
kinetix.jpg

put it up on the lift
onlift.jpg

took a peek at the old cats...can you say rust?
oldcats.jpg
(o2 sensor)
o2sensor.jpg

after about 45 minutes of trying to remove the old cats...we finally get those suckers off....it involved a blowtorch, hammer, and some various other tools. In case you were wondering, you need to go from the engine bay and from underneath to get to the studs....We ended up snapping one of my muffler hangers in the process from yanking around the old cats(the one that hadn' snapped yet) so we had to fix that too...these are the guys whoa re fixing my exhaust when it gets warmer out...but anyway...back to the cats.

removed the old ones (which happen to be about 5x the weight of the new ones)
oldcats2.jpg

process of putting th enew ones in, after 20 minuites of reaching the studs from the engine bay and the bottom at the same time
installingew.jpg

all bolted up and ready to go
doneinstalled.jpg

fortunately the 02 sensors weren't THAT rusty in comparison..otherwise i might have needed to buy a new one for each.....

price of installation? $150

so i basically got cats and the install for the price of the same cats brand new....and these are basically brand new. so new that the studs and botls they came with were still shiny...:tonguey:

videos will be up tonight

Nice post boss, want to hear the down and dirty man. Power gain and how loud they are in cabin and out, clips are nice but your professional opinion is good enough for me :) Hey quick question, were they exactly the same length as the stock units?

That's how Nissan decided to build it. AWD and RWD have different configurations.

ohh right i forgot you have RWD

thanks man haha. they fit all vq35s from the gs to the zs tot he fx's, so there is no fitment issue, these specific cats even bolt up to different pipe sizes...
the in-cabin "noise" is a bit louder, but not at all unbearable. and the actual noise of the exhaust is louder, but not raspy at all. (there is a tiny bit of a metallic sound from a loose gasket i think....because the same noise occured when my exhaust gasket was leaking) I would reccomend these! plus, I feel that the engine is getting all the air it wants to through now, because I had my ecu tuned to have HFCs so now that I have them the air is flowing nicely: engine noise got a bit louder as well.
I still havetn driven that much with them but we were cruising on the highway last night and it sounded like a beast! the 3500-4300ish is where the "noise" is though....I'll have to look into it. it is NOT RASP though; I know what rasp is.
I am going to the dyno on monday w/ wideband so they can check the A/F ratio etc. and if it is off, I am sending my ecu back to technosquare with the dyno sheet for adjustments.

I'm curious to hear! I have a Kakumei Y-Pipe with mine and wanna see how yours sounds with the stock Y.
well your exhaust is different too, I have the NISMO...if i had the kaumei it would definitely be a bit louder. However, I cant add it until i re-tune my ecu (if i need to)

me rikey. i'm still yet to find some OEM 20s for mine. im thinking of just dropping my car already on the 18s and picking up the 20s in the future when they pop up.

dropped on 18's isnt a problem: my wintewr setup is 18s with blizzaks and it still sits nicely with the eibachs and 20mm spacers:laugh:

and yeah, I took some video last night but some of it didn't come out that well. I'm going to retake some today and hopefully it's better. IM dealing with my mom's point-and-shoot w/video so the quality isnt that best....

YouTube- Jebaker1121's INFINITI FX35 NISMO Exhaust & KinetiX HIGH FLOW CATS

I am so happy I finally got these....although i think one of the gaskets is leaking, these sound GREAT!
It still sounds similar to before but just LOUDER and more engine noise in the front, a little more bass in the back.
a better video will be up when the weather clears up....this is it for now
I can definitely feel the different since my ECU was tuned with HFCs factored in....so the proper amount of air is flowing.

at the dyno monday, I am going to check the AF to see if it is okay, if not im sengin my ECu back to technosquare with the dyno sheets to get retuned

Loud but nice. Nismo at full song & I luv it

Exactly, complements the Nismo very well, not abnoxiously loud but loud enough  I love it too lol

That sounds really nice. The number is quite good. By the way, I never thought the black out OEM 20s will look that good when they are spinning. Nice powder coating on your 20s.
