Just wanted to chime in (disclaimer: new to FX) about spring stiffness.. stiffer does NOT necessarily mean better handling. Cars were designed to roll a little bit in the turns; the suspension geometry is set up this way. What you need is a compliant ride. Stiff is fine for perfect road surface, but if you hit bumps or imperfections and you get wheel hop (tire not touching the ground) you lose traction, and can slide/lose control. So long as Eibachs dont cause this problem when hard cornering, should be ok. But reality is that most roads suck.. a compliant ride will aslo be a better handling ride.

This was very apparent in my old M6 - H&Rs in this case were overly tight (especially in the rear) and once I almost lost control of the car while taking an onramp with a whoopsie in it at speed. Eibachs happened to be a more compliant ride, and after changing, the ride AND the handling was much better.

Also - shocks were designed around a specific spring rate. If you change the springs, and shocks arent matched, this will give you other problems. This gets very technical and nitty-gritty... so we will just leave it at that. I highly doubt most of us will really need to go this far in our SUVs!

My $.02: go with the springs that give you the drop you want, and most compliant ride.

Eibach were annoying to everyone that rode in the FX.

I'm getting a lot complaints too when I have people ride in the back of my FX, I just ignore them since I'm never in the back anyway. Since I have nothing to compare it to, I cant vouch for H&R being a smoother ride. Maybe when I test drive John's (turbocad6) FX (and he drives mine) we can swap springs if I like H&R better and he likes my Eibachs ... right John?

Thanks much guys for the complements. All you guys are an inspiration to me.

My H&R springs are cut in the front. You will get a more even drop if you don't cut, to were the rear will look lower then front because of the front wheel well being higher then rear wheel wells. Its just a optical allusion.

Wheels make a difference with ride but I remember when getting the Toyo's they had a better ride then stock 20's with the Eibach springs. More noise but a better ride over stock.

I did feel a little wheel hop at times with the Eibach, when pushing through a corner and hitting a bump. But I don't feel that I can take those same transition roads with the same aggressiveness with the H&R's....top heavy, roll. What I'm liking about the H&R's is the everyday comfort on any road. At least comfort over what I was accustom to for the past few years.

Does anyone know why the H&R springs are marked for the AWD models? I have a RWD and I know they would fit, but is there something more to the AWD other than the fact that it's AWD and it has a rear sway bar installed? There's probably more to it but hey you guys are the experts on this stuff.:top:
