Plastidip has a rubbery texture and if you do it wrong, it also feels like sandpaper. It can also be splotchy and uneven; it was never meant to be a paint. I've seen plenty of plastidip stuff look good in pictures, I have yet to see one that looks decent in real life. Also, it's not very UV resistant so it tends to fade. On top of that, it chips easier than paint and is harder to clean. I'm not sure why it's so popular other than people realized that if you mess up, you can just peel it.
The only reason to use plastidip is that it's reversible. There is absolutely zero other reason to use it. IMO, just go all in and paint it. So many people have done it already, you know what it will look like, so just paint it. The amount of work is about the same. I'd personally recommend having a body shop do it. You can always tell the difference between a professional painted part and a rattle can. I had mine color matched at a shop, probably the best $80 I spent on the car.
