Holy Crap - Car Turned Into A Bucking Bronco...

So I'm driving along at 70 up a slight grade and all of the sudden it feels like my car got hit with a giant baseball bat. Imagine if you were accelerating under full throttle, you pushed in your clutch pedal (in a manual) and then released the clutch without ever letting off the gas. It's really hard to describe the feeling but it was as if for a split second, all power was robbed from the car and then added back in at full force. Sort of like a misfire, but 10X more powerful.

Then about a minute later (same conditions), this happened like 5X in a row, it felt like my car was a bucking bronco but at freeway speed. I thought it was the coil packs, so I replaced all of those plus the spark plugs.

Now, this happened again at lower speeds. I turned the car off and now it won't start again . There is a P1757 code, which is related to the transmission front brake solenoid, but all the info I read about that seems like people have tranny problems with going into gear or or sluggish performance. I have neither.

Any thoughts?

BTW- the car, a 2004 FX35, does have 238K on it with 60K on a rebuilt motor. Also, the mile are mostly highway as I have a put on like 20K miles a year on the freeway.

So, after further research, it seems that I could be dealing with a failing torque converter or the solenoid that controls it. I'm thinking that with 230K on the tranny (but only 60 on a rebuilt motor) it would be best to just replace the whole tranny with a Japanese DTM unit. Does anyone know how long it should take to R&R the transmission?

I would replace the fluid with Amsoil Signature Series ATF before anything else. That stuff is magical.

Also, pull your negative battery terminal to clear the ECM then see if it will start.

Also add in a bottle of the Lubegard ATF protectant.. Amazing stuff too!
