High Flow Cats

Anyone ever ran a Carsound (Magnaflow) HFC? Thinking about replacing mine when I do the exhaust. Looking for some opinions. I searched and found some old threads, but curious about the carsound cats.

Is there a specific fitment for the FX50?

I put a Magnaflow system on my old 2002 Yukon about eight years ago at a custom muffler shop in Denver. I think the guy talked me into replacing the factory cats, too, but I don't remeber if they were Magnaflows. Anyway, those duals sure sounded nice, whatever they had behind the catback.

I searched Carsounds tonight and could only find a specific fit for the G37 ...are you gonna do universal fits and have them cut and welded to fit? Are the HFCs supposed to do anything for performance or sound? Can't wait to hear the sound clips of your new Borla!

The cats will likely provide more hp gains than the exhaust itself. I'd expect 5-7 HP out of the exhaust and hopefully an additional 10hp from the cats. Regardless, it should sound better. (I hope)

I never went with high flow cats. I've heard too many stories of check engine lights, emissions test failure, bad smelling exhaust creeping into the cabin and too loud of exhaust.

If this works out for you, I'm interested to hear more, always good to have more mods for the V8 Infiniti's.

Apparently the cheaper the cats the worse they sound to some degree. I think I'm going to take my chances with the carsound cats and see how it turns out. Hopefully I don;t regret going that route.

Anyone happen know the dimensions of the stock cats? I haven't had a chance to crawl under and measure.

Thanks

that is also untrue. My kinetix racing cats are one of the cheapers and they sound extremely similar to the ones that cost double the price...

That's good news to me then. Because the carsound cats are priced quite well. Exhaust purchase might be going on hold(already ordered though...We'll see). Big purchase today. :)

Apparently the cheaper the cats the more likely they are to completely fall apart internally and start rattling constantly, causing the need to remove them and send them back to the manufacturer, and the worse they sound to some degree.
