Has anyone else noticed a problem with the mirrors?

My mirrors have been shaking like crazy and vibrating and rattling while driving since I bought the car. It's driving me nuts and I can't take it no more. So if anyone else has this problem, there is a TSB on this specific issue.

Just wanted to share this with you guys:

  • SERVICE INFORMATION The power folding outside rearview mirrors can be folded manually. If a mirror is folded manually, the gears for the power folding function are disengaged. To re-engage the power folding gears: 1. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position. 2. Using the outside mirror power fold switch; fold the mirror in/out (close/open). If an outside mirror is folded manually and the power folding gears are not re-engaged as described above, customers may report the outside rearview mirrors vibrate or shake slightly while driving. The outside mirror assembly may also be slightly loose when checked by hand.

Just to let everyone know that if this procedure doesn't fix your problem, to have it checked out at the dealer.

Hey,
I've had this problem on both the passenger and driver side mirrors. I brought it in to the dealership and they tightened the mirrors for me. The problem stopped for a while, but the passenger mirror loosened up again. I guess I have to take it back to the dealership again, but this time with a printout of the TSB!

i get this a lot especialy on the freeway... i asked the dealer what it is from and how i can fix it or if there is a screw i need to tighten they actually went out and printed a damn 4 page report on it and they told me that it is normal because i use the automatic fold and over time it will do that... over time i learned to ignore it but when i do catch it here and there it bugs me as well.:err::err::err::err::err:

My driver side mirror is starting to loosen up. It now has about a quarter inch of play.

Closing and opening the mirror didn't work. I guess it needs to be tightened.

There is a couple of bolts behind that black plastic cover inside. I tightened mine up and it's wobble free.

man i have to try that, i was about to take her to the dealer tomorrow just for that! and its both mirrors! :mad.:

Lol I dont even need to explain, the pictures talk for them self l any way the first pic a small allen key will help you open the under cover note: dont apply to much pressure, then you will need a screwdriver and make sure you tight up all the loos screws and your all set to go... :wink (2):

Haha I just did this. I had my own way of doing it before, but this way is easier. Thanks!

Thanks for the pics but - the previous poster is correct that the pictures without some instruction leaves a lot to the imagination.

For example, I used an allen wrench as you showed but using a mirror & flashlight did not see any screw to open the bottom hatch that has the puddle lamp on it. There's a rectangular opening however I did not see any screw or anything else inside. I tried to use the wrench as a hook to simply pull the cover open without luck - the cover didn't come off & I wanted to avoid breaking something.

I gave up after a half hour. I'll keep trying & post my results here.

There is a certain way to pull it off with the wrench. It took a few tries for me, but I got it off without damaging anything.

That is a great tip on getting to the screw's, I will definatley tighten them up tomorrow. I would add some thread lock so it will not loosen up again.
