Has anyone else noticed a problem with the mirrors?

Not to sure if this thread is for all mirror inquires or just dedicated to the first posts problem. Anyways, my previous 12 premium maxima had a tilt down feature that tilts both the driver and passenger side mirrors down when i put the car into reverse...does a 12 "base" fx35 have this feature also? My mirror only tilts down depending on which side the switch that controls the mirrors are left at (ex: if i was to adjust my driver side mirror, I would first need to switch that lever located to the bottom right of the steering wheel right to the driver side mirror position, I would adjust it so and leave the lever still on the driver side. Put the car into reverse and only the driver side will tilt down...vice versa...however, if i leave the lever in the neutral position, neither the driver side or passenger side will tilt down). Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

This feature works just the way you described it. It is only meant to help you parralel park, so if your backing in to to a spot on the drivers side you would flip the switch to your left side so the drivers side mirror will tilt to assist you on that side. Vise versa with the other side. The middle position for the switch is the neutral position, no tilt.

^^^Yes I think all FXs do this. You choose which side tilts. Both don't tilt at once.

As for shaking mirrors...
Mine are driving me crazy, I still haven't tightened them

I don't think the 1st Gen has the tilted mirrors feature. If it did, I never noticed it on my 06 or 08.

can someone post pictures how to get to 3 screws?

If you're reading the forum at work they may block photobucket. lots of corporate filters try to block free sharing sites so people don't put work stuff in them. Makes reading forums a pain though.

Looks like you use an Allan wrench to pop the cover off and then tighten the screws.

So if there is a flaw in those screws getting loose a lot, wouldnt some sort of a grip washer or locktite help prevent the issue? or is the plastic just slowly failing inside and eventually the screws will strip?

If you can't see the pictures don't worry you don't need them. Just read this, it's post #45 on the thread..

The holes are directly under the mirror around the bottom where the cameras are.

thank you for helping me to find the right hole ;-)
I think it worked, will test tomorrow

Don't know whether to say no problem or run in the other direction after the wink!! J/K Lol

Glad I could help, even after putting the allen key in the right spot it still takes quite a tug to pop the cover off. So much so that it made me feel a little nervous about pulling that hard. So don't be nervous about giving a decent tug. I also suggest using the longest/biggest allen key you can fit in the hole (no pun intended) so your able to get the best possible grip to pull down with.

This conversation sounds so wrong!! Lol

When you guys are saying that the mirror is shaking or rattle, are you talking about the actual entire side mirror assembly, or just the mirror part? I have an issue where when I brake/slow down, the mirror (not the actual assembly) will move back and forth. It's like it is loose.
