Handy_Andy's Mini Meets

No, hence one of the sleep over. Wrong spiral spring. The one on the right is the correct one
Have to cut the paddle out and mate it up to the one on the right.

Did you finish up the project last night? Chris, I do have to tell you, we even tried to put the paddles on my car, but it didn't fit. I was so excited that it was going to work. I almost snatched it from you yesterday! :hahaha:

Yup worked late into the night, cut the paddles of the wrong spiral spring and mated onto the correct one.

Yeah, I'm using one off Chris's car to finish off the install. Not sure if wrong part was ordered or shipped the wrong part. Chris ordered them.

Wow, not 05 spindle or 07 spindle. what else could it be? i would think 06-08 same, so it must be 03-04.

I have a feeling that the a wrong part that was sent. I can say that 04 - 07 use the same spiral spring. I put my old one (03) into Chris car last night while working on his old one (05). It works fine, but not sure why the Slip and VDC light lit up after some driving; therefore Chris decided to leave his car. I took apart Andrew's (07) and hope that it would work. Not a chance. The 07 design looks very similar (less plastics covers), but the diameter is different.

turbo mentioned to me that the clock springs are VIN specific. Something to do with the specific packages that particular FX comes with.

Not that I know of. I brought a new one without giving them my VIN and works perfect. It pretty apparent that it was the wrong part that was used. It is definitely not for the FX.

I just found this forum and read through this thread. I live in suburban Chicago and drive a 2009 FX35. You sound like a good group of people with excellent knowledge. Thanks for the informative posts! Please keep them up.
