Looking good man, glad everything worked out

I sent my brace back after fitment issues and again it has fitment issues. I was under the understanding that they were going to inspect the brace and get back to me. Instead they shipped out a brace as soon as they were notified of me sending the other brace back I believe. To say it nicely, this is ridiculous. The hood still sits high. The brace looks the same as it was before. So much for a successful first mod. :bomb:

I'm not happy with GTSPEC at all. It seems like there control on there product sucks to be honest. Like I stated in your PM, I will send them a E-mail. And see what they say.

After all this time troubleshooting a creaking sound involving the front end of my FX when I'm turning, it turns out that my brace is contacting the hood as well. This is such a bummer. The hood sits where it is supposed to when closed, so it's not as bad as other members' situations and I ruled the hood contact out, but it does in fact contact the hood; when I'm turning over bumps, it is pushing the hood up and causing the creak. Can you help me with this? Here is a photo of each side where the bar has been contacting the pad on the underside of the hood:

That looks all to familiar. I would guess that eventually your hood will be damaged in some way. I sold mine on the forum a few months ago and offered a fit guarantee to the buyer. He says it fit right out of the box. I tried several bars and brackets and no luck. GTSPEC test fitted something like 35 bars on an FX before sending me the last one. They offered me my money back at that time but I was pretty busy and decided to sell it cheap on here to someone else. I took a loss but helped out a fellow member after all said and done.

Hey Brennan, I think I might be having the same thing, what was the sound that you were getting?

I'm getting something that sounds almost like a creaking door kind of sound when I go over uneven terrain at low speeds.

Same sound! That's probably what's happening to you then, too. Check the pad under your hood for dent marks. It's especially obnoxious for me because my closer parking spot at my condo has a speed bump right next to it. So I have the cold start issue (gotta crank twice) and then when it's finally on, I back over the speed bump to the sound of a haunted house door.

I took out the STB today. Was a lot going on when I got home, so I'll listen when I leave tomorrow at 6:30am to see if the sound is gone.

The good thing is that the bar is hitting a portion of metal in the hood that is pushed away from the actual outer layer of metal on the hood, so when you close the hood, it won't dent the outside. But still, not good.

Yeah, let me know if it works for you. I've been trying to track this down for a while and was a little stumped. Never thought about the STB.

I am so happy to be rolling over speed bumps in silence again. That's definitely what was making the creaking sounds. Wish I woulda found this out sooner.

I'm happy that it's solved, but pissed that my solution would involve removing the STB, I really love that thing. I guess I'll have to take mine off today and see if it fixes my issue.

I was looking to purchase in the near to immediate future. Keep us posted, because you guys both have 2006+ so maybe they have a problem...

I loved mine too. For both function and looks. Bummed out now that I need to find a different one.

Its not just 2006, mine is a 2008.

Thats what I mean, there were changes made to the FX from 2006 onwards. Although there were no specific changes to the hood area of the car, just a change in the manufacturing process could lead to problems.
